Hey i'm all about multitasking. I played 3 games at once. One on the computer, a handheld and on the console and manage to play all three. Still don't know how in the world i did it. I don't think any of them were action based so it didn't require continous observation.

On a more serious note: it may come as a shock to some people i'm sure but while i'm the most excited about this game i also have realistic expectations of it. I don't think it's the messiah, I don't think it's the next best thing. I also don't think it's crap or will fail or anything like that. I think it will do well and hold a good set of subscribers. Hopefully enough to keep the game going with updates.

My basic perception of the game is basic MMO combat, bioware style questing with a ton of other people involved...Thats about it. Thats all i expect out of the game. It really isn't that much, what won me over the most is the light side/dark side alignment, i absolutely go nuts when a game like that comes out. It's almost a instant buy regardless of quality. It's a weak point i know, but it's one i can live with just fine. This game adheres to my three basic things i was looking for in my ideal MMO. Light/dark side alignment choices, Great story telling, mass amount of people in the world. Which of all the upcoming games, only swtor provides all three. Thus it wins out.

The thread was as i stated above requested by another forum user, so trying to be helpful as my nature (hopefully) shows i did as requested. If people want to take it as biased they can freely do so. But they should also know going in that this thread is basically one sided because it was requested to be as such.

Good to see some more realistic expectations.

There seems to be this weird trend going on where people feel either entitled to or expect more and more innovation and change depending on the number of big names involved.

Bioware? It HAS to at least have 25% of the features of this perfect MMO I've been picturing in my mind!

Star Wars as well? Make that 50% of the features I've been dreaming about!

EA's money is behind it? They should easily be able to afford 75% of my dream features then!

I mean I've got like 5 Bioware games, which is like $200! I've also got 4 Star Wars games and 6 movies! That's like another $200! And I've got like $350 of EA games lying around! Them greedy bastards better be making my personal dream MMO after all the money I gave them!

Anyway, realistic expectations and a helpfull, although slightly smug, attitude are a welcome sight.

You may add +1 for realism and +1 for helping, don't spend it all in one place!

Still waiting for proof of the "many" negative previews that gets mythologized around here by those against the game. I see a thread got started, but alas, no links. Just more claims backed by nothing.

I could care less about the preview opinions. I would judge for myself if I was purchasing the game.. However, there is one area where the game is trying to raise the bar. That area is the price. The game itself is expensive and I don't think I want to shell out the monthly sub for something I most likely would get bored of in 3 months. I'll wait until the price comes down to try it and if it doesn't then EA can keep it. I don't believe that new ground is being broken here except at the very margins (voice overs etc.)

'seems to imply' is very vague and is really only the interpretation you chose to put on it.

The term is neutral.

I expect most people's honest opinions 1-2 months out of launch will be a very mixed bag of both the good and bad, as mine are now.

Anyone who wants to stand in an extreme corner insisting that this is the utopian model of a perfect game will be supported 100% in all mainstream reviews of this game before and at launch. Thats a given. EA will insure that. We will see actual honest reviews start to arrive afterwards when the advertising revenue starts to dry up and when smaller sites and bloggers have had real experience with it.

I think the op is doing a good thing but

2. even after the game launches reviewers will be posting too early

Good job with this. For all those wanting to read something negative about SW:TOR, the forums here at MMORPG.COM are also a one stop shop. Just flip through just about any page here and I'm sure you will find your doom and gloom.  Pretty much until this thread,  anyone wanting to find something positive about SW:TOR would be lucky to find it on these forums.
