Originally posted by angelfire31 Since when did I become we? Also, the majority? Where are you getting these statistics? You have your own opinion, but don't include "the majority." Oblivion and Demon Souls have pretty much the same ratings. Also, Skyrim has a HUGE advantage over Dark Souls. PC availability. But again, why do people continue to pair games against each other? |

Originally posted by angelfire31 In my opinion, Demon's Souls (and most likely, Dark Souls) is a trial and error hack and slash game. It's a 3D rendition of Ghosts and Goblins. It's just a shy second cousin from closet scares that movies and games use, to me. I'm not saying it's bad, because it's certainly a breath of fresh air (recycled air from a time since passed at the very least) but it lacks a certain quality that holds it back from being a torch bearer of a genre. Also, yeah, as a few others have said; these two games aren't exactly similar enough to compare realistically when you get down to specifics. I'd imagine it'll be worth playing them both. |

If it contains the words video and game, it must be a WOW clone. |

I'm definently looking forward to Dark Souls. Im interested in Skyrim, but i'm going to wait a month or so before getting it, should give the community time to mod in things to undo some of the less appealing changes Bethesda is making to the game. |

Both, but I have an amazing time with Dark Souls. I don't know what it is about the game but it just clicks with me. You can watch the 24h livestream IGN has up. It's good times to own a console imo. |

Skyrim looks great from the previews. Say what you want about the combat but at least they're going to add a little more complexity with the double wield/double spell mechanic. Also it looks amazing and the dragons will add some unpredictability to the game play. I just hope the entire world isn't going to be voice acted by the same 5 people again. |

has to be Skyrim for me, as its PC available. Dark Souls is a Console game and not on the PC. So no contest really between the 2, if you have a console you will buy DS on it, if you have a PC you will buy Skyrim. If you have both you will more than likely buy both games. |

I have my Dark Souls pre ordered. Let me tell you.. As much as I enjoyed Oblivion, I liked Demon's Souls more. I am sure I will prefer Dark Souls over Skyrim, just because of the challenge. I prefer a game I can't play with my eyes closed... |

Good and valid point because you have played Skyrim ...oh wait you haven't because its final build isn't released yet ( all the current demonstrations at gaming exhibitions is not the final product ). Amazing the so called " informed " comments you get from people who don't know something
@ Op
There is no decision here ,Skyrim on PC wins hand down .Install some Mods to enhance the game and you will have a true immersive RPG experience . But as mentioned its silly to compare a PC version of a game to a console game ,the PC is vastly superior

I hadn't heard of Dark Souls until this thread, I will definitely be checking it out now. Will be buying Skyrim regardless. |

Originally posted by bcrankshaw Okay, let me rephrase that. If it's anything like Oblivion, what so ever, it's so easy you can play it without worry, all the time. However, I based my comments on many editor, and critic comments about Dark Souls not being a game to play if you want to relax, but skyrim is.
Edit: To be clear, I'm getting Skyrim, and Dark Souls. I'm sure Skyrim is amazing on PC like Oblivion was, however, I preferred Demon's Souls over Oblivion on pc. I'm not sure how Dark Souls vs Skyrim will turn out, however, I'm sure both will be fun in their own rights. |

other than being rpg's arent they really two different kinds of games?
They arent even competing for revenue let alone market share To the caterpillar it is the end of the world, to the master, it is a butterfly. |

Originally posted by angelfire31 Stopped reading after this sentence. Demon Soul's was a great game. But better than Morrowind & Oblivion? Oh man...
Anyway, Dark Soul's is a great game if you want to be challenged. Skyrim is a great game if you want to be immersed. At the end of the day, Skyrim will provide significantly more entertainment dollar for dollar.
I'd personally pick up Dark Souls and play it til Skyrim comes out, but it's an exclusive title so it's losing out on my money until it becomes dirt cheap. |
