Do you have any fears, or things you worry about regarding ANet's upcoming game? What are they (if any)?
They may be related to the game itself, the eventual community or even regarding the game's launch.
For me, aside from things like server stability and a rocky launch (two things I am terrified of, and they may very well be realities), I hope that the game delivers -in the long run-. Take RIFT, for instance. The titular mechanic promised to be dynamic, fun and fresh. It lived up to it's promise for the first few weeks, and then, alas, the gimmick was all too obvious and any flaws were revealed in their full glory.
Thus I hope things like underwater combat, and dynamic events will not pan out in the same way.

Afraid I won't see sunlight for a few weeks after launch, imagine what could happen to my skin "I am not a robot. I am a unicorn." |

I have very few worries regarding GW2. I consider Arenanet to be a class act amongst gaming companies. GW was relatively glitch-free and was a lot of fun. When I tried other games, I was very disappointed in their quality of gameplay, story, graphics, etc. One of the biggest differences was weekly maintenance schedules which could keep a game down for a whole day sometimes vs GW's stability and relative lack of a need for maintenance. |

That we'll get too many WoW and Rift refugees yelling in general chat "Where's The Endgame Content!?", "Why can't I Tank/Heal!?" I just hope they'll stick to yelling in the forums and not in-game, which is where I'll be. Doubt you'd ever see me on this site again, once GW2 comes out. |

My first concern is that the changes to the Mesmer will be so drastic that the new profession barely resembles the old. It's not exactly gamebreaking to me because I intend on playing every profession at least once, but it would be a bitter disappointment. The Mesmer is synonymous with Guild Wars to me and I fear that it's been so thoroghly declawed to fit with the rest of the game, that it will end up a pale ghost of its former glory. Second, I still have niggling doubts that the payment model will work. We've seen it with GW1 and it was fine, but this is much larger in scope. It still won't make me hestitate in buying the CE the moment it becomes available though. If the model fails, it won't be because I didn't support the effort. Lastly, I remain somewhat unimpressed with how large boss fights have been playing out. Visually, they're breathtaking. But I can't help but note that they don't really do very much that takes advantage of their massive size. I noticed it first with the Shatterer when there were absolutely no knockbacks and no knockdowns, despite the fact that every time it stomped, it should have been creating a minor seismic event. It was pretty much the same for Tequatl. I'd hoped to see players getting smeared by tail lashes, hurled far and wide by wing buffets and struggling to stay upright everytime it slammed into the ground. Still, it was impressive compared to every other game out there, but it could be astonishing if the scale of these creatures was used in a meaningful way. |

People would have to work together in ways never seen before in a MMO to beat something like that in a game, and I honestly do not think MMO gamers could handle it. They would be crying in forums all over the internet that the bosses need to be nerfed. So in the end it would be better off added to a single player game that is at least my opinion.
I really do not see this as a fear, but I am curious to see the long term affects of having nothing but DEs in the game world. I am really curious to know if I will still find them entertaining after 6 months of playing the game, or if they will become boring like quests. By looking at the design of DEs I can see their potential and how truly great they can be, but that still does not mean that when I play the game I will find DEs to be that way. I guess it is just a wait and see type problem since none of us can really know until we have played the game for a long time.

My largest worry at this point is over use of the teleportation mechanic.
Also that the world will be too large to simply run around on foot all the time. Id really like them to impliment some mounts. Or at least some different form of making controllable traveling faster when out of combat. I could see humans using horses while Charr might instead go through training to simply sprint on all fours, thus not needing a mount.
But in short, Im worried Im going to have to hike out to teleportation hubs, unlock them, and do this over and over. And when I want to travel back to the home city, the only fast way is to teleport. Otherwise I'll just have to run on foot for miles. Its pretty much the only possible aspect of the game I have a real problem with. |

I am worried about launch. I am worried that, like with WoW's launch, they will UNDERestimate how many will be there and the servers will crack and moan under the strain. I hope that doesn't happen. I mean....I hope they have LOADS of gamers flooding the servers, but....I hope that the servers will have tremendous stability in the face of the onslaught.
I am also worried that they will give in to the whiners about raiding. However, since the game is about horizontal progression and not vertical progression and gear chasing....I really shouldn't have to be worried about this. Fuck raiding. I'm so sick of raiding I hope I never see another gear grinding raiding game as long as I LIVE. You don't want me to say what I REALLY feel..... ;) President of The Marvelously Meowhead Fan Club |

I'm scared no one outside of the normal mmorpg population will know about this game. If you go out and ask the common gaming population about an mmo, they say WOW, and sometimes Swtor. I want the Guild Wars 2 name to spread, and become a common example of mmos, along the lines of WOW. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/innovation |

My concerns would be:
They will continue the solo centric trend that MMO's have brought about for the last 10 years.People will solo everything, dynamic events will be done together, but in ungrouped silence. The only time people will actually talk is when theyre bitching about what others are doing wrong in pvp.
The Multi Guild system causing strife between guilds, one guild using members constantly that theyre non existant in other guilds.

Originally posted by tank017 The solo thing is a problem to me, but then we have the other side of it, forced grouping. As in, you CANNOT level without a group because there is no content. Sometimes you can't find a group. Sometimes you just don't have time to join and just wanna knock out a couple quests. If you can't do a single quest with 5 other people, where's the fun in that?
I do understand your concern. The death of sociability in MMOs. And that might be a problem. But how do you deal with it without preventing players from levelling in the grouping style they like/they can use? |

Haha +1 I'm most concerned that the PvE will be too easy. Maybe not such a big deal since I do more PvP anyway, but if I hit a dungeon, I'm there for a challenge. They (Anet) have a lot on their plates trying to balance combat so that ANY group composition can run it. I'm afraid that flexibility might make the PvE too easy. |

That they manage to not get WvWvW right. That it's a slideshow or limited to smaller numbers. This is the number one selling point of the game for me, So if they botch it I'll be choked. |

My biggest fear is I get into an accident driving back after I buy the game. Hmmmm maybe i'll have it delivered. |

If you watch the Charr gameplay videos, you'll see that if your running out of combat for a few seconds, they will get down on all fours and start sprinting. Sure its probably not as fast as riding an enraged elephant with a kappa biting at its ass, but its gonna speed up your general travel speed therefore cutting down IMMENSLY on overall walking. That little 10% or whatever it may be, can make a huge difference when traversing to another DE. |
