Radeon's current flagship GPU is the HD 6970, which arrived shortly after their very successful 6800 series. These cards fall slightly behind the GTX 570 on most benchmarks, although the 6970's 2 GB of memory can give it an edge at very high resolutions like 2560x1600. HD 6970 cards tend be very large at about 11 inches long, and they need both 8-pin and 6-pin auxiliary power. They're in the same price range as the GTX 570 and they offer a similar value in terms of game performance. If you use more than two displays, most people find AMD’s Eyefinity easier than the alternatives. |

This is what I built for my GF last November (she loves it). Being both gamers she deserved it (we were on laptops but we decided to go back to desktops for gaming). So I decided to do a video I put on YouTube with the parts I used (and a few other after it was built). I (for myself) will be building a AMD system this holiday season using ASUS Sabertooth 990fx. |

Had thought about picking up two sticks of 2GB PC2-6400 for $45, but I never got around to it. Had thought about picking up an Athlon II X3/4 or Phenom II X2 for $70-100, but I never got around to it. Had thought about picking up a 64GB SSD for $115-150, but I never got around to it. Had thought about picking up a 12x Blu-Ray burner for $70, but I never got around to it. Had thought about picking up a 700W PSU for $80-120, but I never got around to it. Had thought about picking up a HD5670/6670 for $70-80 or so, but again I never got around to it.
My "bottleneck" is that WD system drive...meh.
I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again? Explorer: 87%, Killer: 67%, Achiever: 27%, Socializer: 20% |
