I have absolultely no problem with cartoon GFX as an art style for a game, just as I have no problem with realism. Each game should use the GFX style that suits their vision, end of. Wildstar's GFX look perfectly suited to the vibe they want to create. As an adult I fully enjoy anime and stuff like what Pixar put out an, tbh, I am surprised others link an art style with 'testosterone', but I guess this is the internet and should be taken as such. |

This game looks pretty bad ass. As for the graphics, since when are stylized graphics for children only? I've played borderlands for a hundred hours, TF2 for 500 and many, many more stylized games ive never thought of them as kids only games. Playing: GW2 |

Cartoony graphics? Again?
I've never find any person of any age that says he/she prefers cartoony graphics. Seriously, devs are listening too much to the BS the marketing guys say. |

It deeply saddens me that MMO developers are going the cartoon route with nextgen mmos while console games are going toward more realistic graphics. It goes to show that a lot of MMO developers still are on WOW's nut sack. Please stop it guys, we don't play WOW because of the cartoony graphics. We played it because it was freash and innovative when it was released a century ago. Stop making your games look like cartoons as it's not going to steal WOWs subscription base. I have nothing against WOWs art style, but the fact developer are going that style just to copy the leading MMO game is sickening. |

If they want to ever achieve this and since game is still in alpha it will take them at least 10 more years. But since we know this is not going to happen, they'll probably release the game in about 2 years 1/3 done and the depth will be promised after release to be implemented during the later coming updates... Every dev sounds good like that when they are all full of ideas and creativity. Then they bounce against the budget limitations and start rushing things and end up with very unfinished, unpolished and missing most of their depth MMO. Still its a good one to keep an eye on. But NCSOFT... hmm, they never developed a really successful MMO. They've had some attempts, some better and some worse attempts. If Arch Age delivers it may be a big competition. |

The only thing this game needs is to get rid of the outdated TAB targeting, Then I'd play it. MMO's with a more free flowing action fighting machanic are the wave of the future, Tab targeting can go die in a hole, it's soo lame.

... Where have you been? Under a rock or are you just completely prejudice? Aion is a huge game in Asia. City of Heroes was HUGE for a long time. And, I mean seriously, those aren't even as strong as Guild Wars.... |

I'm sorry I didn't know playing ultra gritty games with tons of blood and gore or almost completely naked women was a factor in the amount of testosterone a person has. If you want run around with an overly muscular man and look at virtual women and their tits, or playing a female character to stare at her ass all day. As you chop off your opponents head with those said man or woman go right a head. But, you should ask your self this question. Do graphics really make the game? If you base it off of graphics alone i fear that you have bad taste in video games and might have missed many games just because it didn't have that "testosterone" you wanted in it. I myself personally don't favor nor detest a games graphics. If the gameplay is great I'm going to play it. if that's all you're interested in seeing is that "testosterone" style game you might like Age of Conan you can look at all the half naked women you want, all day every day. Because now it's free and trust me it isn't as fun as it sounds, because after a while you find out, it really doesn't have that good of gameplay to keep you going back for more. Anyways I however am interested in seeing how they pull off the themepark sandbox. Will it be a flop will it be a winner? I personally grow tired of seeing the themepark mmo's it'd be nice to see something new and unique. Will it have the generic talent tree system or will they surprise us with a little more complexity? I personally like the indepth style of character customization much like Anarchy Online's stat distribution system, it has a very steep learning curve and you most likely will not build the perfect character your first go around. That game lets you ultimately do what you want and how you want it with your class. Even the twinking system in the game pushes the player to the extreme trying to figure ways to equip godly items at lower levels. |

I dont know, I normally wouldnt touch ANYTHING with NCsofts name on it.. but this actually seems pretty cool. I hope I can get into a beta or something, or they have an early trial.. I refuse to buy a Ncsoft published game without trying it first.. Cant wait to see this one developing though.. really interested in the settler or scientist |

I'm fed up of looking at cartoon looking characters in games so I'll not even bother opening any more post about this game. These developers need to start using the full potential of our PC's and stop pissing about with shit looking characters lets see some more depth and looks in the pixels and take advantage of my over priced twin graphic cards. As for making a world there are plenty of games out there of which to take the best bits from and then create a massive sandbox and story driven game world which if done correctly could have a massive implication of the way MMO's are developed in the future. The problem we have in this industry is that every developer stays in the safe and sound lane and do not step out side the norm! It's all been done before and while I understand that the investment has to yield a return for the company, however until someone stretches the MMO envelope these games will all be the same to some degree and the shelf life will be like many others give or take a few years. The word I'm looking for is BORING! |

Ssshhh man, don't you know it's forbidden to complain about graphics on a mmo? People will call you a graphicswhore and say that gameplay is the only thing that matters. And that they would play a good game even if it had the crapiest of graphics but in truth, they won't. |

I can hear what your saying though too, when my buddy first showed me Borderlands I was not intrested at all because of the art style, but I watched a few videos...lol and he decided to get it for me as a X-mas present...and now I love the game and the art style...wierd huh? All in all It would be nice to see an MMO thats more on the realizm side graphic/character wise...AoC..... |

Wildstar should have cartoonish graphics as it is evident that their trailer is reminiscent of the old Don Bluth animated films and 80s games like Dragons Lair. The game is meant to be serious yet whimsical at the same time. I can understand people not wanting cartoon graphics in major IPs such as Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, or even Fallout if they ever make a MMO out of it. I like hard core graphics games and would like to see Fantasy MMOs with graphics like Skyrim. However, I can't see why people would complain that the style is cartoonish. Its like saying a Hello Kitty MMO isn't real enough. |

honestly the game sounds interesting but the character design....emmm i barely can handle swtor graphics/art style and this looks even worse...by far...may sound silly but some incluiding me may be the cause we stay away from the game |

I think Wildstar will make a good casuall MMO when you just want to kill a bit of time. I still play City of Heroes off and on when I got an hour or so to spare but nothing serious. Serious MMO players will likely gravitate towards Guild Wars 2, SWTOR, and maybe even Titan if that turns out to be decent. Personally, I wish the Star Wars game had gone with a high degree of realism in the characters and creatures but I suppose thats a topic for another thread. |
