The us is not the only ones with a gaming industry but since you had to make fun of Europe, here are some facts about the Video game industry for you: United States $18.58B Europe $17.9B Asia $14B Surprisingly, Canada is #3 and the UK is #4 worldwide. Quite impressive if i may say so. You can find these number easily with a simple search. |

So ... EU servers are still offline. So EU players willplay on US servers. Kinda sucks, but from perspective of devs workingon live game to bug hunt, makes sence. So US players get invites, but EU do not. Offical statement on friday: Minor glitch in system. Should be fixed soon (tim). So bunch of us chill in forums. Feeling all giddy - will I be that special snow flake in Antartica that gets the invite. Fridays comes and goes. No offical response. On saturday one of the staff makes a note that since its labour day on monday its highly unliekly we will get any kind of invites. Some nerd rage occurs, but it was mostly people asking for offical: "Sorry we didnt have time to send out invites. But bug should be fixed soon (tm ). EU players will get beta weekend keys on next batch that comes up this friday." Short and simple. But what does BW / EA do on tuesday, first thing when they come to work ? Delete / Lock threads regarding EU beta weekend info. Start baning people that ask silly questions like - "Why was EU beta weekend thread locked ?" Rest of us that didnt get ban, we get a warning that any and all posts regarding EU beta weekends will be closed and participants banned. Im sorry but if you sit down and think for a minute. Im sure you would come up with a better solution then fire and brimstone approach. RA / BW took one very simple aproach - We will shut you up you pesky Euro fags. No pray to whatever God you hold dear that we dont pick Telia again as EU provider. Come US players, you dont want to consorte with likes of Europeans. |

Originally posted by Distopia Not particularly, as it is easier and cheaper for EA to sell a game in one region, especially a large region such as the US.
Different localisation, etc. costs an exceptional amount of money.

Originally posted by Paske They said politely not to create anymore threads and that they temporarily closed the main thread to remove the off-topic messages, and what does the people do? they start creating several more useless threads with questions that has already been answered. I support the mods action of warning/banning people who cluster up the forum with useless threads and i'm from EU aswell. |

Originally posted by Silverbarr Oh I cometely disagree, if they were worried about cashing in I'd assume they'd spend that money there instead of putting it into the game, server costs are not that expensive for a company, if pure profit and not a quality product was priority one, they'd be far more focused on a global release. As they'd want to sell that bad product every where, otherwise the initial reaction would scare later markets off. So the reason was that they logistically can't gather beta information back from the beta testers in the EU due to time difference? Seems like a decent enough reason to me. ----- |

1) When did getting into a BETA!!! become a human right? It is, after all, supposed to be testing and this early on it probably still is. If you are looking for the "we call it testing but it is really a promotion, Open Beta" that will probably happen closer to release. 4) When speaking of EA, it would be more accurate to understand the situation, not so much in terms of who they are screwing over but who they are screwing over, more. We are all their customers after all. (and that by choice no less.) |

Actually, I started this thread to let off some steam.
BAck in the day, probably before most of you walked, that was something of a norm. The discussion would go back and forth as it does on forums.
But this became human rights debate. Or even wether or not I represent EU gamer community. Amazing what people conclude from a simple thread... |

Originally posted by Paske Well, you make such a post and start throwing national titles around and making one seem "bad", expect people to take some issue with it. As even one of your EU compatriots stated, while I can sympathize with your ordeal, your presentation needs work. "Many nights, my friend... Many nights I've put a blade to your throat while you were sleeping. Glad I never killed you, Steve. You're alright..." |

I dont see much of a problem here. That they only want one EU testing thread is understandable, thats standard moderating on any forum to prevent having multiple threads about the exact same topic. Also, if they are not going to block ip's when the game is released, then there isnt really a problem imo. As for blocking EU customers fror the beta. I cant think of any good reason for this. Timezone is a ridiculous argument for this. You can always give feedback through forum or with some games ingame during beta. This information doesnt disappear with time due to timezone. On the other hand, whats the big deal really if you are not allowed to participate in the first round? I can only imagine that its being annoying if you just want to play and its not about testing. Im from the EU btw and agree that some companies (not just western companies, also asian companies when they start westernisation only in the US) put the EU in the backseat, but so far I dont see that problem with SWTOR. |

a) yea BETA is not your right, but BETA is your favor to do free testing for developer (even if you dont submit anything you still test load etc.) so developer should not behave like a shit to his free testers b) stop behave like stupid adicts and stop doing free beta testing, you can see if game is worth your money even without that. |

Perhaps my presentation does need work, but people need to stop looking "beyond what has been writen". This is a pub forum not words of Budha that need interpretation and years of study. |
