Not many people come here as much, as the place is antiwhiner heaven, and they ban all the wrong people just becaues of some negativity the fanboys are to weak to take.

As far as you talk about articles being great, the few I read on the few topics I care about anymore have been a real joke. I mean editorial profession of today is grade school quality at best.. Some of the things they talk about, clearly show they don't know what they are talking about and well... whatever... If you ask me, this place is as bad as it's ever been, i just poke my nose in hear to see if I missed any updates, and this thread caught my eye.. must respond.

IMO, once michael bitton goes, this place may have a chance, but that guy is so weak minded, he will ban every last one of you, just for sneezing

MMORPG is the HOTTEST information site alive.

Any place that can put up with my 95 insane posts (although I think some were deleted -lol) can't be that bad.

I think the people who come here are cool too. I mean, we don't always get along (wink wink) but we still come back because we have a cool place (err HOTTT PLACE) to share our minds. There is no insignificant post here, we all matter. And that alone, to me, makes all the difference in the world.

it just seems articles have been written with highschool level argumentative methods and i find myself saying more than often... "uuuhhh what?" or "uhmm where you get that from?" or the classic "dude, do more research"

 It's gone downhill and the official articles are for the most part, crap.

A bunch of us are in that position.  There are probably more disgruntled adult gamers on this site (and forum) than anywhere else.

I think the site has gotten better overall, however I'm a little embarassed browsing it on campus because of all the little anime girls on the adverstisment backrounds. Anyone who happens to look at my screen probably thinks I'm some dorky pedophile. I don't really care what others think, so I browse it anyway, I just wanted to share that though =)

That's not even remotely true.

You can argue/discuss against any opinion on this site, even those that run the site. What you can't do is insult, flame, troll, or essentially adopt the debating methods of an 8 year old.

More often than not I see someone trying to press his/her argument but what it comes down to is a personal attack or somethign that uses more profanity than is needed and not used well.

Haha, that really is a good point. It's looks very LOUD with the myriad of visual eyecandy in a black setting. I had female colleagues seeing me browse it and they immediately wanted to know what it's all about. They see it as a portal to some kind of exotic secret sub-culture, which is right in a way.

@other replies; some mixed opinions it seems, some valuable ones too, but I can also detect a small amount of "butthurteeness" here and there inbetween the harsh criticism. This isn't The Times, though, a mistake here and there is only human.

The articles are okay, the moderation is out of control. I don't think it's a better site from what it used to be.

i once received a warning because i specifically told someone that they should have read the OP instead of speaking nonesense... therefore no, this site is the same as ever. arbitrary moderation, needless closing of threads, biased. i just come here for the forum.

- i also agree that the articles are written in a subpar manner. but i do not read them, so do not care about that aspect

For the articles, but especially for the forum and the moderation.

 Seems about the same to me. Maybe a bit more heavy handed moderators now.. (seriously go outside guys lol) but not much else.

For me site got worse. Articles feel like they just follow industry instead of forming independent opinions. Also many articles feel like advertisements , maybe I am biased and just plain wrong, but I was working as jurnalist (in "paper" magazine) and payed articles to advertise something is not anything unusual. Not saying that it is here on mmorpg.com like that , It just feel that way sometimes :/

The articles are predictable, every single one of them. I skip the first two paragraphs on every article on this website. The first two paragraphs are always worthless tripe leading into the actual body of the article.

Beyond that, the over-bearing advertisement for low quality Asian MMOs (if you can even call them that) is nearly choking the monitor with their poor art and lavish displays of cleavage.

This website has a real sense of "sleezyness" for that reason in particular.

I think what keeps me coming back here is these readily accessible forums alone.  If the forums were hidden away like on most other sites, I probably wouldn't come here.

I think the site itself has continued to go down the tubes. Half the articles read like a cheap tabloid. Forum posters are more on top of breaking news than the staff. I see so called preview articles where it is clear the writer didnt bother doing much research. And honestly, all these rant and devils advocate articles are just a lisence to troll. Seriously, if any of us forum members wrote some of the whiny garbage that some of these staff writers have passed off as columns, we'd be banned almost instantly.
