Lets hope this sets a trend in the gaming industry that's it really is ok to stay away from the WOW formula as people really are tired of that now and the next generation to find it new is still around 3 to 4 years off from being at the age they'll start MMO gaming. The 2000 babies. |

Aion's customization was way better than AoC's, and part of why it was so good is because of how much freedom they let the player have.
The only way it went too far, IMHO, was the body size sliders. I don't like seeing everyone making tiny characters for the PvP advantage. Ugly characters didn't bother me, though. I saw them now and then, but still not sure why it was bad enough to warrant curbing everyone else's creative freedom to prevent it. When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world. |

It's not just them not wanting players to make ugly characters. It's also the fact that players could be breaking lore by doing so. Such as making a dwarf sized Norn or so. I am completely satisfied with this, you can still make ugly characters it just won't be to the extent of lore breaking. |

it would be quite esay to have make sliders have a reasonable limit without hindering peoples creativity, cause dammit i want my norn to have a big pot belly having everyone look very similiar imo is more breaking to immersion than having uggos |

"There’s something very epic about watching the trebuchet launch its projectiles across the map and destroy actual buildings and scenery. "
epic? How much WoW could a WoWhater hate, if a WoWhater could hate WoW? |

Looks great and there are some awesome youtube videos available from Gamescom for those who haven't seen them. GW2 looks like the game for all the MMO fans that got tired of the current suck in the genre. Just wish the game was coming out this year. If you don't worry about it, it's not a problem. |

I have to be honest. Some of their concepts seem quite interesting, like the dodge and energy bar, and I'll be curious to see how this all plays out. It will be nice to have a game a little different then the norm. I love the artistry of the game and the character creation is one areas I wish SWTOR would copy. One can only hope that we have two great games on our hands in 2012 at the same time. |

"No uggos" is a gross mischaracterisation of the issue. You will not be able to make grotesque or unrealistic characters. They can be ugly or beautiful or imposing; they just cannot stretch beyond the bounds of realism for the race.

Yeah, that is hideous. But mainly because of Aion devs didn't link certain sliders to keep everything in proportion. A high amount of freedom in cc is great, just make sure that proportions always relate to eachother to a certain extent. Aion implementing this in a wrong way isn't any proof for freedom in cc being a bad choice in mmorpgs. If I recall correctly, AoC did a better job, to give an example. |

CC is something I am not to fussed about, GW2 seems to have it done well, or with more than enough options to make you feel unique from what I could see. And it still is limited i.e., unfinished.
Just that too much freedom, might be too much "I am not a robot. I am a unicorn." |

AoC's a great example of terrible customization. I ran into clones all the time. You get all these sliders, yet somehow, people always end up looking the same unless you really went out of your way to look ugly. Rift is another example. Seemed like whenever I made a new character, it'd take all of 5-10 seconds to bump into someone who had the same hairstyle/color, and since all the slider choices were so subtle, that's all it took to look identical.
In Aion, I never once ran into anyone who looked like me, on any of my characters. When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world. |

Most of my characters were unique yet well within the normal range. If I moved a slider too far, it was just a matter of moving other sliders accordingly to get a unique look that was still normal. Some people did basically the opposite, moving sliders in opposite directions to get that sort of mutant look, but it wasnt that common, and again, not sure why people are so bothered by it.
There was one character I made, that I was rather proud of - an Asmo that bore a striking resemblance to some sort of goblin. Not some crazy mutant, but it did require some extreme slider positions. When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world. |

Judging by the terms used in the article , the author of this article has no clue of GW. Yes , imo there will be mission packs / bonus content , its already classic to ncsoft. Btw, stop comparing GW 1/2 to any other game its ridiculous. GW1/2 is/was/will be revolutionary and unique in PVP/PVE. |
