Originally posted by Snoepie Deadmines you say? Are you comparing WoW's Dungeons to Rifts? The heroics are a joke, I was pulling multiple mobs on me and our group was training the whole way through a heroic deadmines run.... the only thing challanging/fun about the game is the raiding. I'm not saying that Rifts dungeons are hard, but at least trion knows to at least put some challange in the game. Rift puts your WoW Dungeons too shame. |

The more you hype an upcoming game in your mind, the more it will fail to meet your expectations. |

Rift isn't a bad game. It's polished and decently designed. It's main fault is it's just more of the same themepark MMO content we've been fed for the last seven years. I enjoyed my time playing it, I just got bored when I hit level cap and only had raiding to look forward to... which is exactly what caused me to quit WoW after six years. I was just sick of endgame raiding with nothing else to do. For players who aren't burnt out on that MMO model, it's a great game. |

The main difference between Rift and (most) other MMO's is their soul system, and the ability to switch specs on the fly. Don't want to wait around for a dungeon group? Make sure you have a healer or tank spec (or both), and queue up as that. Don't like playing those roles? Welcome to 90% of the MMO population, and the waiting times that follow.
However, having that flexibility means that you should be able to get a group for it. Don't want that either, and just want to get on with your story quests? Get a high level guildie to help you out. MMO's are a social affair, and even if you want to solo your way to the top, most of the activities there are party based. There are ways around the group stuff until you get to cap though, but they require patience, or being, you know, social. http://machineborn.guildportal.com - Now recruiting players! |

Originally posted by Ceridith Pretty much that. The raiding game in RIFT is awesome. The solo, single group, and PvP content is extremely lacking. I like to raid but don't want to spend all my time doing that, which pretty much killed RIFT for me. |

You quit playing an MMORPG because the dungeons were party dependent? This is one of thee dumbest things I've ever heard... In almost every single MMORPG, dungeons are for group/party play... |

Originally posted by trash656 I certainly agree with this, WoW dungeons are so rediculously easy, it ruins all challenge of the game just to get the shiny at the end. With WoW dungeons, their just not fun because their not challenging and you just tank and spank everything it seems. All dungeons I've played in Rift are pretty exciting and hard, and have wiped multiple times which NEVER happend to me in WoW. |

Wait why would you want to solo a dungeon in a MASSIVELY MULTI ONLINE ( MMO ) ROLE PLAYING GAME?
What you want is a SOLO GAME , I suggest waiting for the new ELDER SCROLLS or something similar . |

The problem with a large part of the group content is that there are never people online to do it with. Waiting around to do something isnt fun. Some developer should find a way around this. WOW,eq2,Vanguard,WAR,LOTRO,AOC,Rift Aion, SWTOR, TERA. Currently playing GW2. |

Just to make sure I am reading this correct. You went into a GROUP instance/dungeon and got 2 shotted by a mob, quit and uninstalled? Did you even try to find a group to help? Did you think this was a solo game ? Perhaps you meant to launch Elder Scrolls instead of Rift and got confused? This is a MMO= Multiplayer game, most stuff you can solo, some you cant. IMO if you want to solo every single thing in the game then pick a single player game. I often wonder why people play a Multiplayer game and then complain when you actually have to play with other people o.O |

If you are quiting rift because you couldn't solo absolutely everything in the game then, wow, I don't even know what to say. Rift is about the most solo friendly game you are going to find. True, you do need a group for instances but that is it. The instances add to the story but are not absolutely necessary to it.. There is also now a cross server dungeon finder so finding a group is not too hard, though it might take longer at the mid level ranges. Not only that but it seems in the next big update they are adding a stripped down solo version of some of the raid instances so that people can experience the story without needing to find a raid group. Honestly I don't see virtually any multiplayer game getting much more solo friendly than that. Shoot, there is no end to the people who would say that Rift sucks BECAUSE it is so easy and solo friendly. but I guess you can't please everyone.
If you want a very solo friendly game with an interesting story, you might try Everquest 2. With the AA system you can level lock your character and grind up AAs by doing every single starting area in the game. This will give you enough of a boost that you will be able to solo most dungeon content though you might have to outlevel some of it. But there is still some low level raid content, starting as early as the mid 20s that you probably still can't do without a group. The game also allows you to self-mentor down if you want to do content you out leveled. That is you can be lvl 90 and chrono back to lvl 20 and do those things you skipped. By doing it this way you will still be a good deal more powerful than you were at lvl 20 since you will have even more AAs, you will have probably better quality of armor though the stats will be scaled down and you will have more base skills, which again will be scaled down but a scaled down level 50 skill is much better than being lvl 30 and not having the skill at all. On the other side of the fence, don't even consider playing a game like Vanguard or Lineage 2. Those games are so group dependent they will make a soloer want to stab kittens. However, if you want to play something different that will stretch you... The Law of Conservation of Stupidity: |

I think the OP is complaining that he could not complete the Epic story line w/o a group at level ( the level they are mean to be done at). Most MMos these days let you do these types of activities solo. This particular line starts in your teens and takes you all the way to 50. It is what it is. I agree something like this should not require a group. To each their own on this topic.
Solo dungeons though? I cannot agree there. It is an MMO after all. Though i do not think this was what the OP was desiring. Even so I have to say I found rifts instances lacking, quest pacing all over the place, and story line more borey line.
It's a good gateway game while we wait for better. I guess. Not good enough for me to be playing it, and I'm not subbing to anything currently. |

The history progression wasn't that important. You can actually skip it if you want. I did. I think I did the first dungeon and one around level 35 or so. You really don't even need pugs to get to level 50 with your story in tact. You may inadvertently end up in a large raid group if you run across a rift boss though. Join the League For Gamers. |

Originally posted by Dominionlord LOl.. The OP shouldnt be any where near MMORPGs...even RIFT. The desperation of the current RIFT playerbase to get some more bodies into the game ... it is laughable. Sell their own grandmothers they would and take anyone gulalble enough. Caveat Emptor |

If you don't like to be social you could think of the PC's as NPC's with a highly advanced artificial intelligence system that's not predicable. Instead of clicking a button, you have to figure out what to type into the chat in order to get the correct response, lol. |

There are solo dungeons coming now, so you might want to look at video of them on YouTube to see what they look like. |
