Players come for the game, but they stay for the people- Most Devs have forgotten this. |

I don't expect a Dev to read anything here, but seeds of change have to be sown somewhere. Right now here is as good as anywhere and, TBH, this is actually a forum that is more open to the discussion then others around (even with the undisguised anger and hostility in this thread from those that don't like the idea of it). There have been plenty that have agreed and seen the good in the notion as well. |

You got to look at it as in EvE. If the player doenst lose anything cause he has insurance or they just simply dont lose nothing.. then it wont be a problem.. If theres a good justice system as well with no exploits then I think itll make people think twice about PKing minelessly. Also I expect PvP in cities to have a guard system like in Assasins Creed so players that initiate a fight can essentially get flagged if spotted by a guard. They should make it so guards can be defeated but still very hard and can give the victim a chance to either fight back against a group or simply just evade.
Also it looks like they will have multiple respawn points and there wont be only one bind spot.. the most frustrating part of dying was having to run all the way back to where you were.. Maybe in enemy territory the respawn point will be farther to make it more balanced. |

The sooner sandbox developers realize that all sandboxes don't have to have FFAPVP will probably be the day we finally see a decent big budget sandbox to replace pre-NGE SWG. |

Originally posted by SuperXero89 How do you know its FFA PvP? level 1-20 is protected as stated, we dont know the extent of consequences but I imagine they will be somewhat harsher since Jake Song does not want to promote anarchy in the alliance zones as stated once again in interviews. Also we will most likely see a PvE server and a PvP server. If not we can bet that Jake Song will make the best decision in terms of FFA PvP and player freedom, risk, reward, frustration. |

Oguz... 1. Noone here is asking for a 100% PvE server, they are discussing a server that offers optional PvP 2. The purpose is fun co-operative social gameplay. 3. Where did you get this info as fact? Link? Super... I fully agree.

Will there be different server types available? PvP servers with loot on death, PvE servers with PK disabled, for example.
its not full safe zones i guess.. still better than full pk for pve guys :P |

Ahh yeah, I had seen this, and tbh it's kind of the point of this conversation. XL have shown they are open to alternate rules servers, and that approach is very much of their plan for the game, so now is the time for discussions about what people would like to see. Having a single server type that offers a single play style has never been part of this game, something all the 'badass PKs' in this thread may want to consider before they act like they have some kind of ownership over AA. |

I'm curious how prevelant the PvP will be on faction servers - like Aion, where there's almost always a risk, but it doesn't happen that often because its kept in check by rift frequency? Or more like the whole game is like the frontiers of DAOC, where if you're solo and unstealthed, you can't really go 10 feet from a keep without getting ganked? When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world. |

Originally posted by vesavius The thing is in the West, most PvP games I can think of have horrible design leading to inevitable gank fests. In Asia it seems they have a better understanding of what makes a PvP game work. In Lineage 2 for instance the PvP is FFA but if you PK a player that doesn't fight back, you enter a chaotic state and have a huge chance of dropping an equipped item when you die. In other words you're free to PK anyone you want but at great risk. In Archeage (I know very little about this game) it seems they have a trial system where the community itself will deal with the punishment to PKers. Aion I never played so I don't know how that worked. Basically they love their FFA PvP but it's often accompanied with measures to limit chaotic ganking. This is something I feel western devs should learn from. Silly systems like in WoW, Rift or AoC, where you can PK without any risk or consequence will always turn into stupid gank fests that will scare away the majority of the player base. |

Things that will kill this are the same things that kill other eastern games now. Gold sellers

Originally posted by Erstok Gold sellers certainly haven't killed WoW, I don't think this is an issue. Horrible grind? I like grinding, that's pretty much what MMOs are all about. If you want fast action, fast progression, there's other genres out there for that. Now your third point I do agree with. As I was saying in my previous post, open world PvP without rules always degenerates into stupid gank fests that scare away most of the player base. |

The open world pvp is apparently on a different continent, so if you go to that continent you know what to expect. |

I like grinding too and if it keeps away the "mass appeal/instant gratification/easymodec rowd" thats fantastique. If some people are looking for a handholding walk in the park experience well Archeage is not the game for them. Hope they devs will make the game they want instead of westernizing the game, rather prefer a more grindy eastern experience with tougher death penalties. |

Just add three different servers with different rule-sets like stated many times already, that results in everyone getting what they want. There's really no argument against that since it does not take away anything from anyone and makes the game a lot more popular than if it had less rule-sets. |

I prefer faction vs faction vs faction, but most don't go the 3 faction route. I really like a sandbox game though. Crafting, building, ships, being a pirate, so many ways to play in Archeage. Waiting for Dominus |
