I remember it like it was yesterday... It's 2005. I'm browsing my local GameStop. I see three factory sealed copies of World of Warcraft: Collector's Edition. They we're priced at around 70 bucks each. I though, "Hmm. Maybe I should buy those up. Hmm. Nah. This game won't amount to anything." The game sells today on eBay for around $2500.00. /FACEPALM
HOWEVER, I did manage to purchase the Collector's Edition for the following games. Let's take a look at their value:
Vanguard: Sage of Heroes: I paid $70ish. Here is a "Buy it Now" for $22.00 Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures: I paid $70ish. Here is a "Buy it Now" for $69.99 Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning: I paid 80ish. Here is an auction for $20.00 no bids with less than 1 day left. EverQuest II: I paid $60ish. Here is a "Buy it Now" for $39.99. Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided: I paid 60ish. The game will not exist post 2011. What's the point.

Well, its pretty obvious that all of those titles were not even 1/1000ths as successfull as WoW turned out to be. If something isn't good, then why would it retain any value. SWG and Vanguard could have been, and maybe even EQII, but they all share a very common negative ~ SOE! |

Yeah, i know what you mean, but I personally do have the collectors edition of wow, i had bout it for 700 sek (in swedish krona) and by the time i started playing (sometime after the release of burning crusade) it was worth 3k sek for sale, BUT i said; what the heck, opened my collectors edition and started playing, Now if somebody wants to pay 250k USD for my used collectors editions of WOW, just let me know heheh:D I have all the boxes in pristine condition, and by boxes i mean i have the collectors edition of the original game, and all the expansions along with the pets etc.... But thruth be told, i wouldnt sell em coz 1-I dont think these opened boxes are worth much, 2-Too risky:D OTHERWISE, imagine my disappointment with tabula rasa collectors edition and auto assault collectors, both games now down. I had bought tabulara rasa collectors during the release of the game, and waited a long time to play so the game could get patched, BUT OOPS, only 2 weeks after i started playing, i heard the news that the game a going to be shut down! :D uhuh, got only 2 weeks play time of that one and it cost me like 75bucks:D |
