Now the numbers will be unreliable forever because Blizzard will count the endless trials as subs... good work blizzard you could have 2 million subs in NA/Euro and noone would know lol. Pure genius. Ultima ONline (3 Years) |

Originally posted by Z3R01 The above is factually false. Blizzard's sub numbers are presented in very specific terms to not include trial accounts in their financial statements/press releases. Wonder why there seems to be more haters on the internet? Read this by an actual marketing guy to find out why. |

Seriously, whats causing this is the fact that they had continually targeted casual players making things easier and easier over the past several expansions, then they reverse course with Cata trying to make things harder and more complex (in the attempt to add "Depth" to the game) and its the casual players that are jumping ship because there are other games that are accessible. They brought in so many people by making the game accessible to everyone that when they make changes to make it harder(and add depth of play) its making casual players angry. Not to mention people are creatures of habit and if you shake up what they know, ie: how to play their characters and the way things work (for 80 levels)with those characters, it takes them out of their element at a HIGH level, when most people think, "Hey, i'm on top of the world and I know how to play my character awesomely now that i'm maxed out level", but then suddenly, they have to "relearn" most of what they learned in the last 80 levels no one really wants to do that. Thats also probably why they've had such a hard time getting "tanks" and "heals" for the LFG tool. People liked the way tanking and healing was working and were comfortable with it. So much for that, now they're seeing people jump ship and their numbers are dropping. Good job Blizzavision, keep up the good work and maybe Activision will sell you to a chinese mmo company lol. |

I mean we all have seen tons of MMO's fall into that trap, the big one I remember was Star Wars Galaxies and EQ II (wonder if maybe sony employees are now working for blizzard lol?) |

they are still soooooo much bigger then any other mmorpg out there and probably will stay to be so for a long time coming. some people leave, they would do so anyway probably. new people will get harder to get into the game as many have tried it already. as soon as it really becomes an issue blizzard probably has the successor lined up perfectly. |

Any new or returning player to WOW, send me a PM for some help getting started. |

Except they don´t count free players in their subscription numbers. Only players who paid real money in the past month are counted. If you are an ex-wow player and want to come back. Scroll of Rez gives 7 free days, boost a character to 80 a realm and faction change. Send me PM for an invite. Only 1 per day available |

All of them. The footnote from Blizzard always states that it only counts people who have paid real $ in the last 30 days. Always been that way. If you are an ex-wow player and want to come back. Basically this. WOW can continue to lose 300k subscribers every quarter.. and in 8 years, will still have more players than most of the MMORPGs on this site. One of the bigger problems with WOW is that it simply makes things too éfficient´for players. Questing from 80-85 had a lot of quests (something like 1k total).. but there was never any travel time or down time. They made guestgiving so éfficient´that players just tore through the quests. In vanilla wow, a zone might have 30 quests.. but you would spend 5 minutes between each quest traveling. Hyjal had 120 quests that you could complete in under 2 hours, mostly because of new mechanisms they added (auto complete) along with just smoother guestgiver locations. The same is true of dungeons. Most of them barely have trash any more. TOT has more boss fights than trash fights etc. Blizzard did a good job of getting rid of things players didn´t like that were time consuming.. but in the end, it kinda bit them in the backside. When things are too efficient, you get done too fast. If you are an ex-wow player and want to come back. Scroll of Rez gives 7 free days, boost a character to 80 a realm and faction change. The standard reply is,"They have millions of players,no sweat". Star Wars is looming on the horizon, and lots of anticipated single player games. A pack of small hyenas can bring the largest buffalo to its knees.Gamers seem to be fatally blinded by denial and loyalty. Like when guys hear from 50 people that their girl friend is having a fling with their best friend. "They are just good friends."I sense a disturbance in the force. I may know the least here, but I am the loudest about what I do know. |

After reading most of these posts no one has posted one major issue for Subscription loss in North America... Our Economy sucks... Our so called unemployment rate is 9.1% but they only count those who are recieving unemployment checks. In reality the unemployment numbers are probably about 15% - 20%. On the other hand, if you are waiting for Blizzard to announce a new MMORPG... Good luck waiting for that, been waiting over 8 years for Diablo 3... Another thing is, Diablo 3 is going to offer a player to player Auction house, so they will no longer lose money to 3rd party item sellers. If you place an item on the Currency Auction house, Blizz gets paid; if you sell the item, Blizz gets another % of the sell, and if you have your account linked to say a Paypal account and you cash-out of Blizzards account, they again get paid a cash-out fee. The third thing thats going to cause Sub loss are not only SWToR, but GW2... With no monthly fee and the ability of skill based PvP from level 1 to Max without ever touching PvE situations and still getting items is going to be tempting. All classes have some type of heal, all classes can resurrect, can dodge enemy arrows / attacks... It will be interesting to see the Subscription losses on Launch of these 3 games. |
