Originally posted by Katody Maybe I'm misunderstanding but I think point and click is the same thing as a tab targeting system. And while I would much prefer a tera/darkfall/mortal online/warband type combat system, I'm willing to put up with this because there doin enough other unique things in game that it makes up for it. |

Originally posted by jadedlevir Usually in the MMO world "point and click" refers to the way you move around. For instance in L2 you point and click on the ground where you want your character to go and they run to that point you clicked on. If you're talking about targeting most people refer to it as tab targeting. Even though yes you can point and click on the enemies when you say "point and click" most people are talking about movement. |

Whats with this whole "realism" schtick in the video gaming industry that made worthless stuff like call of dudes popular? I play a game because I want fun. Most of rpg games equal fun and immersion to me. If I wanted realism I would go take a walk in the street. # A GRIM, ODD, ARCANE SKY |

Can you honestly say you wouldn't like to see a well-done mmo with a console-type battle system? I mean- I loved Ragnarok online, and that had point and click combat- and rightfully so it worked it's purpose.
But there is a scarce selection of mmos that feature "elderscrolls"-type combat. Nearly all of them are side-scrollers, and I can list most of them off the top of my head: Maplestory-LaTale-Ghost-Dragonica-GunZ-Rakion-S4League-RYL-GhostX, and perhaps...five others
I'm not saying it's a must-have for this game, but I think it would boost people's experience of the game. Each to his own I suppose. |

Originally posted by Crim21 Ah, I was confused. Point and click to me, and the term itself, has never meant the targetting system. Point and click has always meant the movement system in a game and had nothing to do with the ui/targetting or whatever. Don't know when it changed that people have to have them separated into different categories (point and click/click to move) to know what is being talked about. |

Understandable, I don't think many people separate point-and-click into categories. I'm glad people finally understand what I meant- at the very least =p
@anthonyman6: I humbly beg for your pardon ? |

For the Korean version, yes. Not for NA version. I can guarantee that. Waiting for: GW2, Planetside 2, The Secret World, ArcheAge. Playing currently: RIFT, Guild Wars, Vanguard, Tribes, DAoC |

I guess I'll repeat it since OP hasn't seen yet Point and click is OPTIONAL. WASD will exist. |

You misunderstand me kind sir, I'm not talking about the movement mechanics.. I'm talking about the battle mechanics, there is a VERY subtle difference.
I would like to see an arcade-style battle system, like the ones in-say the elder scrolls series or gothic, not dragonage.
Do you understand what I mean now ? |

Mass-combat (i.e. hundreds vs. hundreds of players in a small area) is utter rubbish with an arcade style system. |

And even so, I would like to witness it. Although I know it would need quite a powerful server =] |

So you're wanting darkfall-esque combat? Or am I misreading still? I'm not quite sure what you're asking, but I'm extremely happy that ArcheAge does NOT have a Darkfall combat system. And as for your other example, I greatly dislike Oblivion's combat system for an MMO. |

Or are you asking for a system more like other "action" asian MMO's on the horizon? C9 comes to mind. Because I feel there are plenty of other games that have the style you're asking for, and I'm looking forward to ArcheAge being more traditional gameplay with more of the -features- that I'm looking for in an MMO. |

It is point and click. However that is used as now in beta as more of a " if you get stuck it's easier to move out" thing. You can use arrow keys and wasd if you want too. It moves just like RIFT. So take a deep beath and a shot of Jack and take it easy. Cause it's gonna be mid next year before Archeage gets to step into the west. Jymm Byuu |
Originally posted by Sheista Eh... something along the lines of an "action asian mmo"- but with a more realistic approach. I can't think up too many good examples at the moment, because as far as mmos go, the only hack-and slash ones I've played are highly unrealistic. LaTale was fun though, especially interesting that they gave you the ability of tailoring your skill build, by picking what you wanted from a set of skilltrees. If I remember correctly, that feature will also be available in AA, which I will be heavily exploring =] |
