I loved Oblivion... Actually got a character with 100 in all stats and skills. I think I'm gonna like Skyrim even more, REAL BEARDS! |

I don't really like Oblivion, but love Fallout. I used to wonder why this was, until I realized that I also didn't like Dragon Age, but Loved ME. High powered firearms make everything better. |

I dont realy like Dragon age(but played it was ok not good) and hate Dragon age 2, i love Daggerfall adore MORROWIND and loved Oblivion and hope Skyrim will be as awesome as Morrowind. Number one Developer so far for RPGs for me is Bethesda! Bioware with games like ME and DA sunk below avarage for me not worth playing anymore.

When i started oblivion for the first time i played it one hour and then uninstalled it. I just hated it, maybe because I played fallout 3 before i jumped into oblivion. But After few months i decided to start all over and reinstaled oblivion. And i dont know whats changed but i couldint get enough of it... Althou oblivion gates was a pain. Anyway what im trying to say is just stay calm and play it for a little longer joing guilds and stuff you should find something you can enjoy about that game. |

Some of the opinions here are very black and white. I personally adored Morrowind. I played it inside out for years and yet Oblivion didn't seem to interest me as much. I also finished fallout so it isnt due to the dislike of these type of games at all. WOW,eq2,Vanguard,WAR,LOTRO,AOC,Rift Aion, SWTOR, TERA. Currently playing GW2. |

I've tried playing Oblivion with and without mods probably 10-15 times now. I can't get much farther than the first Oblivion gate when I get bored with it. I think the appeal is the open world sandbox style RPG. It really is a unique game, but as the TC said, I'm incredibly put off by the terrible annimations and voice acting. |

I'm sorry I find this extremely hard to believe. I'm sure if i look through your post history I could find you discussing oblivion as if you played it. This is like one of those guys that say they never played WoW... Either you're a troll or just want to be cool by not playing an extremely popular and critically acclaimed epic.
Oblivion is probably in the top five of greatest rpgs ever created in my lifetime. Somewhere between Morrowind, Kotor, FFVI & ME. Playing: GW2 |

Not an Oblivion fan myself either. I ahve only tried it a couple of times but neither one ahs worked for me so far. Very much liked Fallout3. Perahps it is the active skill gain versus levelled-skill gain that is an issue for me. That I could go into sneak mode at the first goblin, face the wall and max out sneak before ever getting into the actual game was kind of a bummer. Not a fan of games that can be "cheated" that way. Gaming since Avalon Hill was making board games. Played SWG, EVE, Fallen Earth, LOTRO, Rift, Vanguard, WoW, SWTOR, TSW, Tera |

I read this and was shocked I will admit. Everyone is entitled to their opinions though. I loved the game (on the PC) and enjoyed it more with mods. The storyline (as always) bored me so I ended up adventuring off. Oblivion is\was a great game to me, I liked the side stories more than the actual main storyline. The Dark Brotherhood storyline is much much better. I play it more like a shooter as a rogue\bow type. If you run up and hack and slash the game gets old really fast. I do find myself wishing for better graphics, although to me, the game looks pretty good once you mod the resolutions, and crafting. I would have preferred to buiild a house in game rather than mod to get one. The biggest problem with Elder Scrolls is that the games are barely a challenge. Running backwards and letting a few arrows fly will beat the game in general (in general). Depending on what system you played on you can tailor the game to your likes. If you didn't go with the PC version...yeah may want to get your money back. WinnTech |

I'm not a big fan of Oblivion either although mods help. With that said, I really enjoyed the fallout series (although I am not too fond of the game engine that Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Fallout NV uses). Perhaps the first person view is a detractor for you? It is for me in fantasy based games. |

Yeah, I had to use mods to get Oblivion and Fallout 3 where I wanted them (especially on a difficulty level; they're beyond easy without modding the piss out of them). New Vegas, however, was pretty much where I wanted it; I didn't need mods for it - they just supplemented it. So my problem probably lies with Bethesda. Once they cut mod support then I'll move on. I'll really be in trouble, then, because I'm not a fan of modern Bioware, either. |

so if you dont like biowears and Bethesda curren state means u dont like mass effect, fallout 3, oblivion, star wars knights of the old republic and hell lets throw in sum FPS they made...in that case i dont reccomend you look into the new star wars MMORPG cuz its purrty much mass effect online...i think all there games r the shit! and are one of the best top developers in the world if not top....all these games woudl make TRUE AWSOME MMORPG'S that would makes WoW and all its wanna be clones cry and dwarf away into nothing...this includes the epic fail GW series that tries soo hard to play and be a MMORPG. its sad really. |

I think Oblivion is a wonderful game for people who basically want to ignore the story and forge their own destiny and create their own goals. This is how I am. On the other hand, I'm sure there are people who want a much more directed experience and the more story based RPGs (Bioware / Square) may appeal to them more. I think if I were to make a continuum of Non-liner and linear RPGs, Oblivion and Morrowind would be on the non-linear end, and Final Fantasy XIII would be on the extreme linear end. I tend to enjoy the more non-linear games more. I couldn't even get 10% through FFXIII. Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob? |

there is a way to run, walking everywhere would suck. Also you can jump around using the map. I forget exactly how you run, but you should be using run instead of walking like 95% of the time. I think caps lock or shift will set you to run, forget exactly.
This should make you faster and less bored. ========================== |
