During E3 2011, Melinda Haren, a new player to MOBA-type games, spent time with League of Legends at the Riot Games booth. Not only did she score some hands on time, but her tour guides on the ins and outs of League of Legends with the Riot Games team itself. At E3 I had the opportunity to play a game totally new to me (though not many others): League of Legends. Sitting down with the team at LoL was not only an opportunity for me to learn about the title but a whole genre of games: MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arenas). The team was kind enough to explain to me how the gameplay in LoL functioned.

Played this off and on for awhile. Solid game to mess around with (especially if you enjoyed WC3 and DOTA). Pretty much dwarfs Heroes of New Earth which is its direct competition concept-wise.

Riot does good work.

Been tempted to try this for quite sometime, so I'm downloading it now. Not at all that familiar with these style of games. Used to play Savage 2 a few years back and loved it. Heroes of Newerth always interested me as does Bloodlike Champions, but I'm not laying down money to buy them when League of Legends is free to play.

OMG!!!! You do not control the minions. They are on auto and follow a path and attack enemies. That is so funny. I can't believe I read that you control the minions. It is a great game. 2 years playing myself.

Great game - but EU server sucks. 40-120 minutes queue times and at the end its a 50:50 chance that you can log in or get an error.

US servers are better - only somethimes there a queue for 2-10minutes but from EU the ping is to high (190-280ms) and you still see alot EU gamers bc we cant play on the EU server ^^ (and sometimes you get an EU server, in the case you were able to log in, with 120-150ms ping so its not so much better. But normaly you have a ping of 20-70ms and thats ok.

I hope Riot will infest some money in a better EU server structure. :(
