If it contains the words video and game, it must be a WOW clone. |

Originally posted by Jianyu The scenarios are not even remotely the same, in SWG's case we had a game that was horribly broken in many aspects, which were never tended to. Then they blame a lack of success on the sandbox formula used in it's creations. Not the parts they would never fix or improve on. They then gut the entirety of what made the game special and then offered up a horribly broken skeleton of what it once was. What's all the outrage about with Eve? Conjecture, cosmetic RMT and inner corporate practices we have very few facts on the workings of or culture within. I look at SWG as the case of child neglect. I look at EVE as the kid who was given too much for too long and now doesn't know how to accept the word no. Why not just lock it and say 'false email'? That'll pacify the playerbase reaction somewhat but this 'delete and pretend it doesn't exist' is so 'before the interenet' it is not even funny. This is the Internet, nothing is really truely deleted. Wonder why there seems to be more haters on the internet? Read this by an actual marketing guy to find out why. |

Maybe one of you Eve fans can help me out. What changed in this expansion? I tried Eve Online for the first time a month or so ago, found it to be terribly dull, but pretty, though to be perfectly honest i only played for about a week before i gave up. If people are complaigning as that email says it indicates something changed, can anyone tell me what changed? I kinda want to like that game. |

Removed the link, OP updated it. JeroKane: In TSW your gear has NO stats whatsoever! But only via trinkets and talismans. Myself: Please, stop posting, I can't breath I'm laughing so hard at that statement. |

Quite a jump to conclusion there. Faked correspondence falls under that rule too. |

Originally posted by Jianyu If you look at my last two sentences you'll see how I feel about the backlash. Nothing against people voicing opinions, but taking this to an NGE level is a clear case of overreacting. Especially considering it's mostly regarding an internal memo. Yeah... like that official post threw a bucket of water on this fire. Bloody kerosine...
There is so much metagaming in Eve and real cash flowing to keep it in play that I would not be surprised to see a pay to win model develop out of CCP based on what the players actually do. They are taking their turn and cashing in. I am reminded of the Russian and his $100,000 dollar spending spree on an alliance war. It's kind of sad and could kill what makes Eve special.
The real problem I see, is that there are no real competitors for CCP's product to keep them in check. They own their niche market. There's simply no where else to go play and we know what happened to SWG in full now that its days are ending.
I do not even see any upcoming games that have a real chance to compete in the near future from a company and development team capable of sustaining the effort.
*Sigh* |

Originally posted by miagisan Not really, the rule doesn't have anything about 'fake'. Actually the rule is clear that it applies to 'private communication'. If it was fake then it'll fall under a different rule, e.g. don't impersonate CCP Wonder why there seems to be more haters on the internet? Read this by an actual marketing guy to find out why. |
