If the reason you picked doesn't set it apart from other games, then how can it be the number 1 reason.

Originally posted by caremuchless Are you going to go on about how having no subscription fee can't be someone's number 1 reason to like the game again? For your information, GW2 having no subscription actually does set it apart from other MMOs (notice I didn't say game). Most other MMOs with the quality of GW2 require you to buy the game then fork over $15 every month if you want to ever play it again. Most free MMOs don't have the quality that GW2 already has. Therefore, GW2 having no subscription does set it apart from other MMOs. |

Because instead of trying to copy other MMOs like we keep getting, they're throwing the whole thing out the window and doing things their way. Instead of the normall vanilla MMO + Feature "X" formula, they're going with whatever they think will be FUN!

It's a combination of the combat, the way structured pvp works, World vs World vs World sounds like it should be good, and PvE might just be interesting in this game, and no monthly fee. |

i recently quit wow it has consumed alot of my time and it felt like i didnt accomplish nothing, all it was to me was a faceroll to the next patch, i pretty much rushed the game i guess cause i dont know much about wow lore and i have 9 lvl 85's. the pvp on my fire mage is what kept me around my last remaining days. i tried a rift trial and it was ok for a bit but the only good feeling i got out of it was the rift invasions, i would run around healing everyone,i wish they had made the trial level cap higher so i could try out a instance, but i was able to try out the pvp, and the pvp imho was lol? i was interested at archeage as my next game but it dosnt appeal to me anymore for some reason, guild wars 2 look like its gonna be my new home, it looks promising to me, i may buy extra copies for my other friends as well, so the number 1 reason for me to play this game is dynamic effects |

IMO my main reason are all these to choose=D try before buy, even if it's a game to avoid bad surprises. |

Originally posted by caremuchless Of course it is. That doesn't mean that the pricing model isn't the main reason someone is looking forward to it. Edit: I feel you might be confusing people's number 1 reason might be thier ONLY reason to look forward to it. |

Originally posted by romanator0 I'm not confused. I just don't dont believe that FREE can be someones number one reason when there are multiple free games, even a few B2P games.
When I read "#1 reason you are going to play (play=have fun with, spend time on,enjoy) Guild Wars 2. Well, money signs don't pop into my head FIRST. If you interviewed someone while they were playing the game and you asked them the number one reason why they enjoyed playing, NO ONE is going to say "This B2P model is SO FUN!!"

'Cause I played the first one, and the new one looks awesome. ^_^ Little forum boys with their polished cyber toys: whine whine, boo-hoo, talk talk. |

Originally posted by caremuchless Well, I would not play the game if it wasn't B2P, but I would probably try it at least if any single other feature was missing, hence why B2P is the main reason I would play it.
Just try and get over the fact that some people would not even consider the game if it wasn't B2P.
Of course, that by itself doesn't mean much, since there are many other reasons of why I'd play the game, but only because they are all there. There can't really be a "single" reason from my standpoint. |

As you already stated there isnt usually just one reason but I did place dynamic events as my choice although WvWvW and the free form grouping, no WoW style raids and hard ass group content are my main reasons to play. My main detracter is the classes, I feel GW2 went so far to break the mold of the trinity and free form grouping content that they should of taken the class system down the same path. Im just hoping that the Trait and Skill system will allow as diverse a character class as say RIFT at the very least. I would of rather preferred a classless system but its not quite the deal breaker as some of the elements being implemented in SWToR are in putting me off that game.
And yes I have read the interview with the dev pertaining to classless system I just happen to disagree with them in this respect. If they would of modeled GW2 class system off of Asherons Call Skill system but utilizing Guild Wars iconic skills it would of been a home run in my book.
(edit) I know free to play is a big draw for some but I would happily pay up to $30.00 a month to play an epic NON-Themepark MMO. (end edit) |

i might not actually play guild war 2 until i can try it in open beta/demo (after release) cuz atm I personally feel that arenanet is is truely focusing on their even system (dynamic quests) and not enough on other types of game-play features (such as class balance, PVP, PVE(meaning to only farm monsters and not care about everything else), 1 million people in one spot, etc.) |

No monthly fees coupled with the fact that this is a big budget project with an already proven IP! Also the potential Role-Playing avenues it presents (or hopefully presents). |

Hmm, I'd have to say fundamentally all the things I really like about the game come from it being B2P. Since there is no subscription fee, they aren't designing the game to be a skinnerbox that psychologically manipulates people to keep p(l)aying. Instead of spreading out the fun as thinly as possible (and on a random reward schedule), it looks like it is being designed to maximize the fun like any other genre of game. And like the Devs of GW2 have said, having subs also encourages developers to be LAZY. Almost all sub money is pure profit, meaning developers are encouraged to do slow and lazy design to just string people along so they keep paying. That is certainly what all the other MMOs with subs do. Having a sub fee would be horribly detrimental to the game in the long run. Btw, do not read this as an endorsement of F2P games, because I rather loathe item shops, generally speaking (I am ok with GW2's model). I am endorsing B2P games here. |

My main reason is for ArenaNet itself, their visions for MMO are both innovative and evolutive. They are also the only one(beside CCP) who have the guts to do something different from all the WoW wanna be mmo. In the land of Predators, the lion does not fear the jackals... |
