I was interested in this game, and I've seen this video before a while ago. Seems like another one of those asian games where you can just run away from people. That was my number 1 beef with Aion and the reason I never tried the game again. it's just "pussy" fighting for lack of a better phrase. I'm hoping some of the actual pvp oriented events look a lot more interesting. |

While I was watching the video my eyes kept wandering to the actual "world" and how barren, plain, flat, bland and lifeless it looked. This of course was because the combat I saw shared many of the same qualities...

Originally posted by Ramonski7 I knew this old footage would come up. I hate to say this since it's an overused "phrase/statement", but in this case it's really true. I'd advice you to avoid footage from CBT3 and earlier - I blame the beta.
I have been following this game since mid 2009, and I'm totally honest when I'm saying that they have changed tons and tons in their latest client shown at G*Star just a week ago. They have changed the pace of combat by a large margin, added and changed tons of skills. It's a whole different game. The clip you just watched doesn't represent the game we have today.
CBT2 was over a year ago.(early/mid November 2009) The entire staff of BHS, close to 200 people with most of them being developers. I can guarantuee you that the footage from, CBT3 even, is as old as it gets. I'm quite certain that it doesn't represent anything of the game we have today. At least, as far as the combat, UI and gameplay goes - We have another game today.
Again, it's an overused "phrase/statement" to blame on the beta. I rarely do that, but in this case it's more than true. I don't know about PvP though, might be dull or awesome for all we know. However, the OBT is just around the corner, we are bound to see some PvP/Duel footage from that.

A lot the comments in this thread are ridiculous. I'll never understand why people hate a game simply because it's eastern. How does the combat in this game look anything like aion combat...ones tab target the other is action... The world looks barren and the characters not doing any big skills in pvp? Ya thats because it was from closed beta a couple years ago, and they were low levels... come on people... Eh watever, when this game comes out I'll be enjoying the realtime action combat as my guild takes over politically, and you guys can enjoy your tab targeting light shows. |

Well the video looks kinda neat I, although there really isn't anything that new, but again I does look fun compared to what I am currently playing. Is tera using a combat system similar to Vindictus, Blade & Soul, or DarkFall, because it seems that quite a few new MMO's that came out are using these type of attack systems besides the Free 2 Play mmo games, but most of the new ones come out with some kind of target function besides just click and press a button to use a skill. If so the only problem I find with this game is what will become of Tera online when people start to write Macros, or when people start to use multihacks, or such features that automate game play, or give an unfair advantage in PVP because I know that Dark Fall, and Mortal Online have at least a few people using such, but even Aion itself had a ton of these type of cheats people knowing where stealthed rogues were to run away and such. The other serious question is if Blue Hole/Devs will do what NC Soft has done and charge really high prices with Micro Transactions to go with their subscription, because like seriously Aion only has 4 servers up and they are never full when I am on, and yes this does include character customizations. Also yeah I really do like the graphics in Tera, and honestly the Art is the best I have seen, and could be compared to Aion, or Lineage 2, games, and it has taken a long time for a new MMO that looks as neat as these to come out so it seems, although it could all go down hill really fast I am really waiting to check it out, but the moment I see Micro Transactions I am going to scream and run. |
