I have been playing MMO's since pre-Kunark in EQ. For months, I have been anxiously waiting to play rift. To make a long story short, I got to 50 and felt like I beat the game. Couldn't find nothing to do besides the same four or five dailies in Stillmore and I attempted PvP, uh no. Then I leveled a warrior to 50. I really tried hard this past week since hitting the cap to enjoy end game and keep going. Nope, I still feel like I beat it, time to move on.

I'm definitely not QQ'ing, I really, really want to love this game and play for a long time. I guess the point of my post was if others feel this way or am I missing something? Starting the game to hitting 50 was almost linear with nothing to do at 50. Well, besides run around and find rift, after rift, after rift, etc., or trying to PvP and waiting four hours in queue and I won't go there... Clerics..

Ughhhh. Sorry, just venting..

No need to be defensive about the game.

Personally I've dabbled in PvP. Now that I've reached all my goals there, I managed to enter a good guild with nice people and we're doing the raid content of the game. I'm still not bored by either activity, but I would definitely like to see more variation in both PvE and PvP.

to the OP, I feel you completely, I totally wanted to love RIFT and devote 5+ yrs to it.  Unfortunately, after leveling 3 chars to 50, there is just nothing to do.  I have cleared all the raid content, done all the raid rifts, the pvp is ok but gets old.  I think I just need a game that doesnt focus purely on gear to continue to my character's progression.  Crafting is boring and useless, the community is becoming wow-esq.

If there was something more to do to progress, build etc, maybe I would continue, but for now its just boring

Unfortunately I work second shift.  Even though I'm in a decent guild that is active, I can't partake in most of the events due to working during peak hours.  I hit 50 and tried a little PvP and PvE.  I've not been logging in for longer than 10 minutes at a time now because I am now bored.  I know that most of the time that I do log in, nothing is going on because it's either early morning or very late at night.  I qiut WoW several years ago because I felt that I was wasting my life away chasing a carrot that really didn't make me feel any more important.  I think the same thing is happening here due to lack of end game content.  Or maybe variety of end-game content to be more specific.

I think I'm more of a sandbox guy.  Someone who wants to do their own thing.  Whether that's exploring, delving into a dungeon alone, buying a house and decorating, buy a boat and going fishing on the high seas, attempting to avoid pirates, setting up a vendor shop and selling the wares that I crafted, taming horses and selling them in town,  feeling the rush of a meaningful fight, raiding a player owned keep/castle with my guild, holding said keep/castle from would-be attackers,  etc.  The only thing even remotely possible is selling crafted wares, however in themepark games..you have to grind so much just to get a recipe that might be useful to others amd hope someone buys it.  Even then, no one cares who they are buying from.  They didn't travel to my shop, I've gained no notoriety.  MMO's these days seemed to have been taking the social aspect out of the game little by little.  The mechanics are built for the ADD.

I'm just starting to feel totally un-immersed in these modern MMO's and it's saddening.  So I feel your pain.

That's the problem. Rift and Tetris have more or less the same depth.

Like alot of you Im at 50 and still doing instances I dont PVP with my rogue but my cleric is a blast to PVP with! I think they need to tone down the XP with 2nd chr I got to skip 2 zones on my way to 50 there was way to much XP given for either quest or mobs one of them gives to much I think since there limited amount of content to do at 50 Ive not done everything but im sure most people with 50s have i just decided to level another chr but hey i could see the game getting stail if i didnt level 2 to end game

Having reached lvl 50 a few weeks ago I can relate to what people here are saying. that said there is another event forthcoming and I am still having fun levelling my other 3 alts (albeit rather repetitive).

I daresay I'll give it another couple of months before jacking it in, it depends on what additions/changes are on the horizon. Theres plenty they can do to make end game more attractive, more zones would be desirable for a start, that likely though will be an expansion project!

Just last night I hit level 50 on my Cleric (^_^) and I felt the same way. This is my 1st time hitting max in an MMO and I was kinda lost and bored with what was on offer. I did a Raid, got some gear, then felt like doing some T1s but didn't have good gear, with enough toughness (had great purple weapons) and I couldn't be bothered to do normals, since they were easy enough to 4-man. Tried PvP'ing in Port Scion and found it to be a huge zerg fest, with lightning storms everywhere. Seriously what is that AOE skill. So yeah... I got bored and just moved onto leveling my Rouge.

That's all that Rift is... it may have been linear, but it was fun to level and progress my character but once I hit max, I felt like the journey was over. With nothing to do but grind: rep, valour, rifts and daillies. Here's hoping the GW2 won't be that way... I'm sure it won't.

Yeah, I also found that to be a problem. In LotRO I got bored cause levelling was too slow and only got my main to lvl 38 in 2 about months of play. Rift I got my Cleric to max in just over 2 weeks and skipped 4 zones on the way. Even right now I'm halfway to lvl 19 on my Rouge after 2 days of play, which kinda pisses me off, 'cause I've got the got the Black Gardens PvP quest to do and once I hit 20 (which I will after 2 matches), I'll be put into the Lvl 20-29 bracket.

My take on GW2 is that it is a persistent world, no trinity (tank/healer/dps....all classes can be hybrids of the 3). If you want an idea of what a persistent world is, maybe check out neverwinter nights, the online player made servers that host up to 64 players are called pw's (persistent worlds).

Essentially I can see end game for gw2 being much the same as rift, it'll break down into zergfest open world raids and pvp, I could be wrong ofc. Hmm, 2012 still a fair way off yet!

Yep, under two weeks to cap and another week till completely bored. To be honest I think the main problem is combat is so boring. You stand around all day bored waiting to get into a dungeon and than you are like why did I waste all that time for this.

The main difference I see with GW2 is that the game doesn't suddenly change when you hit max level, like it does with Rift, since levels will be fairly trivial (side kicking system). So you'll keep on doing what you were always doing... exploring the world, discovery dynamic events, doing some pvp, doing some dungeons (without being restricted by gear requirements) and doing random activities. Also GW2 PvP won't be like the PvP in other MMORPGs, due to the combat mechanics (more skill involved than just clicking skills).

Find a decent guild, and try crafting. And play the other faction and move to a PvP server where I wish I had started. (Briarcliff) Don't know how you guys lvl so fast I'm only 38 and have been playing this same character since release. Of course i do have a life and a sucky job I have to go to every damn day.

It isn't that far off from the truth though. Rift really has no depth and no soul for that matter.
