I beleive in life before death... So dont forget to enjoy it while you still can. |
Somehow the list of top voted upcomming games doesn't feel like a true reflection of the MMORPG population.
So here another of those polls,
Currently i am a super hero in DCUO. |

I voted SWtOR first but I wll also look at TSW/GW2/ and the others as well in descending order. Why SWtOR can go to other threads but I thought I would let you know that I will be checking out more than one game. First however will be SWtOR. No excuses. |

No doubt Guild Wars 2 will dominate all because it is not your traditional MMO filled with a bunch of boring fedex quests. The art style and combat will be superior to all, atleast until the next best thing comes along. |

Ouch, right now The Secret World has 0 votes. I feel super sorry for it. :( More people would rather play 'None of the Above' than The Secret World! D: |

I'm not super excited about anything coming out, but Star Wars might be interesting. I think it will be fun for a couple months at least. Who knows.

Back to the topic.. Waiting for Star Wars Old Republic at the moment and later for Firefall. Worried with how EA is destroying Bioware and making their projects crap like DA2, ME2, etc.. Lets hope some of the good Bioware old game devs still around to bring us a nice 'old Bioware' feeling in SWOR.. On the other hand Firefall does promise a lot. the graphics direction is interesting and refreshing to the genre, and game looks quite dynamic too. |

Mass Effect 2 is one of the greatest games ever made, its better than the first in every way and more, this is more fact than opinon, read reviews etc, more people liked ME2 than ME1, fact.
In my own personal opinion Dragonage 2 was also better than Dragonage 1, more of a story, less of a game, which is how the first was supposed to be.
So in other words, Bioware can do no wrong, at all. They make the best games right now.

I'm looking forward to Guild Wars 2 because its sub free, nothing else really, it's not as "innovative" as it's fanboys make out, but it will be good for a free game. Getting rid of healers, adding some dynamic content and getting rid of question marks over quest givers heads only makes a game different from WoW, not original or innovative.
Star Wars will be great, but again, nothing original or innovative, but it will be very fun and worth the subscription.
The Secret World will probably not deliver what it says until a few months down the line, then it will be a great game, easily better than the two above.
Arche Age will dominate all, in graphics, gameplay, originality, innovativeness and on almost every other level. As long as its not translated badly, and as long as it doesn't have a bad cash shop (if its F2P) then it could become one of the greatest MMO's ever.
So, in order I'm looking forward to them:
1 - Arche Age
2 - The Secret World
3 - Star Wars
4 - Guild Wars 2
I will definately try each of them. I don't mean to sound big headed... But I know Voldemort. |

Originally posted by garry I like this comment because i agree with it, as a gaming veteran for 14 years, i cant wait for sw tor to be released. i fell in love with the black isle games, fallout 1 and baulders gate, 1 and 2, played hundereds of hours with those when i was around 19. (30 now)
and as for a bioware mmo? its a no brainer for me, square enix used to be my favourite develpoer until ffxiv. (i baught the collectors edition, played like 3 weeks of it so i lasted a while) - also the ff13 didnt hook me as it should have, i think to be honest i mesed up my char builds, so it made every encounter last a LONG time and that made even the standard encounters that much more difficult.
but yes, sorry back on subject, i loved the original guild wars, had 2 level 20's, played it for quite a while. GW2 looks even better, so i am getting that for sure, but i am not so interested in actively seeking out new news updates about that game as i am with sw tor.
played the crap out of kotor and kotor 2, even went ahead and reinstalled both of them recently and working through them slowly again in anticipation of tor. --- loved dragon age, AND dragon age 2, i dont care what peopke who didn't like it say. the difference between the 2 is, a traditional rpg dungeon crawler; (origins) compared to an action rpg; DA2. (open world, however, is limited location wise) the story of both games, shines. i give Origins a 9.0 and DA2 a 8.4. mass effect 1, loved it completely, have it on pc, completed it on xbox. me2, loved it too didnt finish it, i should have done. jade empire, same deal there, loved it, didnt finish it. (i really should play those to completion!) so bioware has become my favourite developer, -- there was a recent recap on what bioware have made over on machinima, for instance MDK2, i remember playing that. enjoyed it also. Neverwinter nights, was awesome too. guys, its basically this.
its been said before but, "dude its bioware making a freaking mmo (or was it a "star wars game?") still, - 'all signs point to awesome'.

Bit dissapointed this poll result i thought many here want something new? Seems not:( Im for The Secret World becouse its new settings in a todays realistic world with no lvls or classes and no elfs, dwarfs or orcs! TSW seems to me something fresh many here asking and hoping for years, instead the well known swtor/gw2 themeparks they go for strange?

where is World of Darkness? I'm mostly waiting for that. The Secret World looks promising, but a bit too polished...we'll see. Give me a sandbox, set in modern times with the ability to play as a vampire, werewolf, mage, or human...add some politics, crafting, solid graphics and most importantly...great PvP and I'm all in. ArchAge looks interesting as well. Most of those other games look like glorified single player games, at least to me. I like the Star Wars IP, but tbh I think SWTOR looks like Mass Effect that allows you to interact with others terribly. I enjoyed ME and ME:2 but radial menus, kooky animations and everything on rails makes it sound like WoW or Rift with a SW skin. Might be a great game..who knows. I like the trailers...they look great. Ofc the trailers to Howard the Duck made it look funny too. Playing: BF3, Prototype and Skyrim |

I'm absolutely looking forward to The Secret world. It has a great premise, a fresh setting and is a partial sandbox game. It may be AO's best MMOG in a while as well since the guy behind Age of Conan left the company and the lead dev behind The Secret World is the same guy that did The Longest Journey and Dreamfall two of the top 5 odd adventure games ever made. It gives me great hope for the game. In the end however I chose Guild Wars 2 on the poll simply because it looks to be hitting first and it's a themepark that breaks the WoW paradigm and improves the genre in so many ways it is impossible not to be both blown away and thoroughly excited at the same time. The simple fact that everything we have seen, as polished and well made and cool as it looks, is Alpha footage. That blows me away. Another MMOG not listed here (likely because it isn't listed on this website as it's a few years out still) is the World of Darkness MMOG. It will be a true sandbox if it follows the PnP game it is based on as good as it should. It's being made by CCP, the guys behind Eve and they do sandbox better than anyone else. The only downside is that it is based upon the obselete Vampire: the Masquerade and not the far superior Vampire: the Requiem. The choice was probably made so the game could follow the plot of Masquerade. Hopefully thats the only thing based on the old world of darkness and the systems use the much better new WOD systems and that we see expansions that add Werewolf, Mage, Hunter, Changling and more. As to Archage, I think it looks good but it is to low end to be able to compete. And besides, I have yet to like a single asian MMOG. |

ARCHEAGE!! This game looks like the most epic title to come through mmorpg in a long time. It should be bigger then WOW and GW2 once it is released, and I say this only because of what I know about the game. Believe in it.

DA2 is an abomination. More story? Did you even play the original past the beginning? DA2 is so bad they are taking extra time on ME3 because they know how absolutely disappointed the fans are in Bioware. DA1 is their best selling game of all time, and thanks in part to EA, DA2 is counted by many as the worst sequel to a AAA game ever. Considering many RPG fans count the first as the second or third best game Bioware had ever made, I will forever be pissed off that they screwed up the sequel so terribly. You are certainly entitled to your opinion. And I am entitled to baulk at it. ;) |
