SOE has posted a day by day look at week in the development cycle of the next game update for Star Wars Galaxies.

A lot of blood, sweat, and tears are poured into each Game Update; Game Update 10 is no exception. Take a look behind the scenes on just a week in the life of making Game Update 10!

Monday

Just like in any other office across the country, everyone comes in to work on Monday morning bleary eyed and reserved. Arriving at our new building, however, always manages to put a smile on my face.

Jesse "Loche" Benjamin is always the first one into the office.

He gets here early so he can check out the forums, read his reports, and start going over his notes on what needs to be finished during the week.

Mondays are spent planning for the week and what content is going to be worked on, updated, and created. This obviously involves a lot of meetings; of particular note is the Monday Leads Meeting. In our new building, this meeting takes place in a room called "Jabba's Palace."

I agree with above poster even though the post is funny there is too much to read for a game with too little going on what it should say is.

No here's the REAL week in the life of a SWG dev.

Monday:  Come into work.  Grab some coffee and a donut.  Surf the internet.  Go to lunch.  Come back from lunch and play WoW.  Go to the forums and laugh at the players for posting concerns with the game.  Surf the internet some more. Go home.

Tuesday:  see Monday

Wednesday: see Monday

Thursday: see Monday

Friday: Come into work.  Grab some coffee and a donut.  Surf the internet.  Read the forums and laugh again at the concerns posted by the player base.  Write a list of the OPPOSITE things to do of said concerns of the player base and write that into the code.  Play some more WoW before calling it a week.

Once every few months take all the changes made and throw them out the window and call it an "enhancement"

You forgot the part where they plan to make changes completely opposite to what players want then say that's what the players asked for.

Oh and we also forgot to mention where they spend triple the time coming up with ways to make it -appear- like they're working instead of actually working.

And paying the crazy bum in the alley who hates Star Wars to do all of their artwork. And all the time they spend smoking crack before coming up with 'events'.

Wasn't so much that they just messed up a great game. Which even with all the bugs and problems it was a great game pre-cu.

It was that they completely ruined a great game.....and then blamed US (the players at the time). Then lied some more, stole some more, broke some more stuff then blamed the players again.

I don't think pre-cu was even that "great" bugged out lack of content we as players should give ourselves all the credit because we were "hardcore" enough to understand what could be possible with them building the game up but as stated in numerous posts devs spent more time surfing than working and the biggest shame is that we have to read articles like this one and watch all those monkeys acting like total asses in those pics as if things are all roses with this game let's you know how totally dillusional those guys over at SOE are.

These guys remind me of the cop just arrested for murdering his wife he was led to jail in hand and leg cuffs and started mugging for the cameras and asked if everyone liked his "bling".
