I was browsing youtube and a found a couple viable videos displaying space combat, planet's and combat thought I would post a couple of them here as I have been following SW:TOR on a reuglar basis and hadn't seen tthese videos till today.
Planets: This show's the real scope of TOR and will rid of the tiny themepark rumors floating around. This also portrays the graphics very nicely

Space Combat: When I first heard of the tunnel Star Fox combat that TOR space combat was going to be I had major doubts but after watching this I'm actually looking forward to it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUGMZson6rw&hd=1
Note: I'm not 100% sure what the rules are regarding posting links to videos on youtube, although if I have broken any rules I do apologize. |

I missed that planet video, good find. Quotations Those Who make peaceful resolutions impossible, make violent resolutions inevitable. John F. Looks good in the vid. Let's hope it looks like this in real. ^^ Sidenote: I also hope we can explore a lot and not only "tunnels". Holy Trinity who art in our MMORPGs! Blessed be thy speccs, as in WOW so in all MMOs! Our daily loot grant us, and forgive us our noobness, as we forgive the noobs! And do not lead us to disconnects, But deliver us from mediocrity, For thine is the specialization and the teamwork and the endgame, Until cancellation, Amen! |

Originally posted by Nethermancer Yes, it's Star Wars. Where a lot more goes on with planets than in Space. Yes, there are a good many space battles, and there's a lot of things happening in space, but it's not like in Star Trek where you're constantly exploring space. Hell, my more fond memories of watching Star Wars weren't the space battles, it was Luke and Vador fighting on Cloud City. Groovy. |

Give it time im sure this type of space combat is really just a place holder, future ex-pax might get some open space, right now i don't think they can because this game out the box will most likely be like 40+ gigs and to add open space that would to many gigs to install for a new game, unless the players want to pay $99 bucks for a game lol. |

if you want a space combat game then this game isnt for you. bioware have got the mix right if you ask me. besides there are plenmty of space games on the market, and even mmos now that are well made, like black prophecy (which is free) and the soon to be released jumpgate evolution.
people find any reason to cry these days, i find this lack of faith disturbing. (lol) |

I feel like the graphisc look better than usual when filmed on a big nice HDTV. The environments always looked good, but the player models in screenshots, etc. (although looking better), still look kind of off and mismatched in quality.
Still. NICE! |

Bioware has said repeatedly that they plan to expand content based on player feedback. If players want open space battles, then they'll find a way to do that. I believe I read in an interview that the architecture to support it is there, but they just don't have it running. Don't ask me where I read it though, it was on one of my many trawls through the main website for the game.
Think of it this way: They could have either made: 1. A game that focuses on ground combat and does it well and as a -bonus- they even took the time to make basic space combat. 2. A game that completely focused on ground combat and didn't even -try- to do something with space 3. A game that focus on space combat and did that well, but the ground portion of the game sucked. 4. A game that tries to do both well, but fails to do either nearly as well as people would expect.
Which one makes the most sense? |
