Two of my co-workers and I have a random week off of work, and want to spend some of that time playing some co-op style games. Given the number of MMO's that are either F2P, or have a short free trial, we've been tossing around the idea of joining up a MMO for the duration. We're not looking for anything long term, or anything too serious (although trolling might be fun......), but just something to kick back and hang out while playing. We're also looking at co-op RPG's like Neverwinter and Diablo II clones, but thats for another board. We've all done WoW before, so it's out. Two of us have played EVE before, and I've played Lotro. "Nothing with vampires" is an additional criteria that was stipulated. So if you have any suggestion as something fun for 3 people spedning a few days playing, post up.

Take a look at Warhammer, with their free tier one content. PvP with friends is always fun. On a non mmo front, Borderlands is amazing for co-op play. |

You guys should check out Magicka... It's not a MMO though, but a very funny co-op game none the less. It's pretty cheap as well. |

World in Conflict is pretty fun with a bunch of friends looking for nothing "serious". But just for a week I'd suggest something f2p too, warhammer tier1 is sorta fun...ish. edit: spelling also, "DoW2:retribution-the last standalone" is kinda fun =P not sure how much it'll cost ya tho |

I think in one week an MMO probably isn't the best choice to be honest, since your first week in most MMOs is just quest grinding that is easier and faster to do by yourself anyway. Unless you agree ahead of time on the MMO and you all grind a little bit before your week o slacking arrives. I do think its funny that your criteria is overall pretty loose, except for the "No vampires" clause. LOL As for other suggestions I never liked Left for Dead 1/2 but thought Halo Reach Firefight mode was fun in COOP. My kid and his friends are way into the various CoD zombie modes for coop but I'm sure that is too obvious of a selection, as would any FPS choice be too obvious... How about poker, beer, and cigars? Or golf, beer, and cigars? GW2 "built from the ground up with microtransactions in mind" |

Give Titan Quest a shot, its like diablo 2.5. Great class customization, stat allocation, and fun environments to explore. Definitely worth a shot, if you aven't already played it. Yes I have a dream… And its not some MLK dream for equality. …I wanna own a decommissioned lighthouse …And I wanna live at the top… And nobody knows I live there. …And theres a button that I can press, and launch that lighthouse into space. |
Originally posted by gainesvilleg The idea is keep it light and screw around. MMO's usually provide the frame work to play together and interact with other people better than a lot of other games these days. Most likely, we'll be in the same room and spend half the time laughing (and drunk).
Don't worry, we have a daytime pub crawl, gym time, a boat race, and 2-3 other outdoor physical activites planned (I never really liked golf). |

1 week? LOL
Well good luck with that . ... what kind of computers do you peeps have and anyone with some IT knowledge or quick with computers?
The reason that I ask because the best games would be totally crappy if you only have laptops or still think that you need AOL for the internet or something.
I guess I would recommend trials. Warhammer is the best short-term trial. Darkfall is the funnest game imo but would be too hard for you probably . .. but might be an adventure, who knows. 3 people could do some pretty funny stuff in that game though hehehe (you get to kill people and take their stuff and conquor things . ... but the trial sucks because the game is meant to be played for years).
edit: forget Darkfall it would take you 2 days just to get it working probably lol 1 week isnt time for much . ... Guildwars, Global Agenda, and Warhammer's free trial are probably your best bets.
Free instant fun games that are coop are always fun .. . here are my favs: http://en.transformice.com/ http://www.quakelive.com NEWS FLASH! A bank was robbed the other day and a man opened fire on the customers being held hostage. One customer zig-zag sprinted until he found cover. When questioned later he explained that he was a hardcore Darkfall Online player and knew just what to do. |

+1 for Vindictus, and there's also Dungeon Fighter Online if you're into arcade-ish games. Both F2P.
Otherwise, non-MMO but great for group of players: League Of Legends, Heroes Of Newerth, Savage 2. ------ |
