I watched the Royal wedding instead of playing and it was worth it, and why wouldnt it be? my countrys prince is getting married!!! so i can understand if you don't live in UK or aren't english why you wouldn't want to watch the wedding.. but for us british people it gives us patriotic pride, well for me anyway.. lol

Your poll is flawed. You are assuming that everybody is playing an MMO and that if I am not watching the wedding it is because I am playing an MMO. Originally posted by Isturi |

I only care about weddings where the girl ends up in my bed. Sometimes you have to pretend you like them in order to achieve this however. Who cares about some rich brats. Who cares about some dudes hailing at the rich brats and acting like these brats have some major impact in their live aside from consuming money. British royals dont really have any history a "commoner" could be really happy about. "oh great you gave me a bread and I only had to give you guys 2-5 breads worth of my taxes in order to persuade you to be so nice. Now I am really gratefull to you and pretend its worth giving you my taxes and hail at you!"
Royalties nowadays are nothing but overhyped celebrities to distract from the real politcal struggles funded by taxes. "Hey we are in big debs, an economical crisis and we joined another war that doesnt want to end. But omg what is this?!! Prince..... Charles...... has a new haaaaircut ! OMGOMGOMG" 'Seamless world' - A world lacking visible or phys. seams, forming forced breaking points during transition and movement;

I find every western democracy that still has a monarchy embarassing. And what's even more embarassing is that peoples lives are so boring that they care and cheer for them. Welcome in 2011. |

Anyway... what a great idea for an MMO... you take the role of a Royal or a Wannabe Royal and have to avoid scandal and marry your way to the top!
Quest # 1 to prove your love for the Lady (Lady in the Noble Title sense)... Foil 5 Paparazzi and bring me their Zoom Lenses... Nothing says irony like spelling ideot wrong. |

People's lives are super boring because they care about their country's traditions?
This thread is absolutely pointless and should be locked as it only ridicules the culture, traditions and beliefs of a nation. Should I start a new thread where I can pick on some random nation out there?

Such a disgusting and callous waste of money that could have been much better spent helping those that truly needed it.
I'm sure this guy would agree.

Originally posted by Tardcore True, but that could be said for a lot of things we spend our money on. I'm just not a socialist at heart. And heck, if you really believe that do you withhold buying a game or stopping a sub so you can give to a worthy cause? Do you even have a list of worthy causes you give to? Or do you volunteer your time with needy kids or help the homeless? Well I know I don't. I do know that my girlfriend puts her money where her mouth is and has a list of charities she gives to each year. The problem with decrying how someone spends their money, even if I agree with you, which I sort of do, is that it's very easy to say "this is how people should spend their resources, helping people" but how many of us actually do it in our own way? Besides, one can make the argument that it puts money into the economy, employs people, etc. |

I think the fact that some people were even awake at that time in the other side of the world (such as those who said it was 4 AM or so) and whose only choices and purpose of being awake at that time was either a) Play an MMO or b) watch the Royal Wedding is scary. Especially if your only choice besides watching the Royal Wedding at that time was playing an MMO. Now, do not get me wrong. I play MMOs and I love them, hence why I am constantly on this site reading news and what not, but seriously the only reasons why I would be even awake at that time are a) I am studying or b) I am out with some friends. I'd rather get a good night sleep. Also, the fact that someone started a thread about this is sad. Now, for those close minded people. The Royal Wedding is a huge part of the UK's culture, and monarchy in general is part of European culture. Some people care about it, and if you don't you are not obliged to watch it. Let me remind you that not everyone likes to play MMOs, so their second option wouldn't be putting aside their favorite MMO. As for my answer, yes I would put aside my favorite MMO, but not to watch the wedding. I would actually be getting a good night sleep, seriously. Also, for those complaining about them being rich brats and not helping the poor and so on. Why don't you go outside of your houses for once and try to help people, if you care so much? Instead of telling people that they should give away their money for charity, why don't you give your own money? Oh wait, that's right, because it is your own money. It's easy to criticize others and not look into your own flaws. They have a lot of money, so what? Who cares, deal with it. They are free to spend it on whatever they want, it's their money. No body is telling you how to spend your money, unless you are married of course. I think there are far bigger problems in this world than to worry about things such as other people's wealth, or playing your favorite MMO late night/early morning or watch a wedding. In fact, you should be thankful that you have the money to spend on monthly fees to pay MMOs, because out there there are people who would kill to have those extra 15 bucks a month. It's time to get out of your house and open your eyes. The world is not a pretty rainbow with happy clouds, stop worrying about such things. |
