I would agree with the OP. I didn't play WoW because I always heard of the grind (which I got out of my system with SWG....no more thanks). But some long time WoW players finally brow-beat me into at least trying it last June. I find it fun and casual. I don't understand why anyone could become obsessed with it (either for or against). It's not the end all be all of MMOs nor is it the bane of them. It's success is probably equal parts timing and accessability. And as long as I play it casually (I haven't logged since December) I think it'll stay fun for a bit yet. Mind You I also play RIFT and LOTRO (since Beta) and retain my SOE Station account for SWG. It's been awhile since I've returned to the Fallen Earth but my account there is active still too. So I can probably say with honest conviction I'm not a WoW fanboi but I don't hate it either. It is what it is. Another game. "Heart grow stronger, Will becomes firm, the Mind more calm, as our Strength lessens..." Battle of Maldon 991 AD |

The only new thing in this game was Vash'jir. Unlike TBC when the game itself felt like WoW 2. WOTLK just felt like some improvement. Should i give you a reason why i think WoW is not that good? Talent trees. Its not unique anymore, its for kids with problems. No soul on it. Another reason? Flying mounts in Azeroth. I thought i would see world PvP once again but Blizzard still has 0 clue what PvP server really is. Hell, i dont know why PvP servers exist anymore. Its too unfriendly for PvP. Most often you get guards after your * when you attack somebody, and you often just see frost mages in dangerous areas, which means you are doomed. Oh come on, you want another one? Extreme lack of different quests. They are all the same. Go kill that mob, pick up that poo, oh i could only play for 5 minutes straight at Deepholm/Uldum before i quit and played pokemon instead.
Should i really really say what made WoW a bit depressing? The change of community. Back in Vanilla everyone had a own personality, and did alot fun together, not taking stuffs seriously, learning, boosting, being superfriendly. Now everyones just gray. Calling newbies reteards, taking the game to seriously etc. If the good old WoW peeps just came back, i would play WoW all day long again.
I dont say this game sucks. I have quited and played WoW before too. If Blizzard improves the game once again, im going to start again, but i also want a better community. And i love Blizzard, got all their pc games.. :) Yawn |

Originally posted by Escargon Well...to be honest the problem with WoW is just that there wasn't any true competition. Once WoW showed it's success, all other developers changed their visions to more closely match what WoW was. It didn't work because, well...no one can beat WoW with its own formula. 6 years of WoW under my belt, and I still play because I have a tremendous guild who I have fun with. The game itself is stale because I have played it so long. WoW is fun, it's just old now. GW2 is really the only thing that looks super different on the horizon. The genre needs fresh ideas to make things feel new again. |

I think most are burned out on WoW, and would move to other games. The problem is WoW is still the most well rounded. The other AAA releases of late simply try to copy it, but have always been to a lower standard. |

Blizzard has no control over whos going to be a douchebag on the servers. Cant really excpect them to fix that anytime soon. As for WoW its self?...WoW is a great game that gets a bad rap from Its major success ,and Whiney little girls that cant deal with change. Blizzard does a great job running the game..it always runs smooth , and everything most of the time is well balanced. Even classes in itself are well balanced for the most part. Maybe not so much at lower levels but endgame yes. what class do you hate the most? All classes are hated by someone. You dont get numbers like 11-12 million subs from being a horrible game. The game is fine! I come to terms with the fact most people that hate WoW. Either used to play it or never really gave it the full test run before quitting. Note: I said most people! I know you trolling WoW haters are gonna have feild day with this reply, and flame to death.. but you know what? i dont really care. Fact is fact ! I can deal. Its like the slogan from tha movie about the guy that started Facebook. hows it go? You cant make 50 million freinds without making some enemies on the way..somthing like that. |

Originally posted by grapevine Hmm? It was something new atleast for me. To quest underwater in such beautifull area and swim extremely fast. Everything else felt just like pokemon gold/silvers old place. Or is there an old area with same playstyle? />:( Must say that the next quote was kinda rushed. Yes, there were alot of different quests but i only get pictures of Uldum, the place ive stayed for like a week. Felt like i was repeating the same quest over and over and over and over again. Even grinding mobs was funnier. Yawn |

Wow is a good game. Many don't like its style but the style it does have works for it. I am no fan boi, I cancelled my three accounts as the game is going the way of premium "extras". Plus thimeir customer service treated me like crap with no apology. This is the first time I have dealt with the forum department at it is garbage. Its a bunch of mouth breathers with delusions of brandied. The billing and accounts people are alright as are the game masters when I needed help with stuff i deleted by accident.
Love it or hate it wow is a good game.

Originally posted by Shinji-Ex I kinda thought about making this thread so I was glad to see it. I'm by no means a WoW fanboy. I've come to the point that I'm sick and tired of that game and revolted when someone talks about how great it is but all these people like to pretend it's some kind of coincidence that the game has reigned king for years and has a strong retention rate. Most of us here have played and, at one time, enjoyed WoW, no matter our forum cool-guy personas. I can list a number faults that I view with the game but noone else is making a dent. Here's to GW2, SWTOR and TSW. Gamer needs a new pair of shoes. Spec'ing properly is a gateway drug. |

Have fun. After CATA forced phasing into questing, nerfed my healers and prevented me from mixing talent trees, I'm not going back. It's just not the same game that I loved and invested time into. Currently in development Wizards and Champions (formerly ActionMMORPG) |

It's one of the most flawed MMOs out there, overly reliant on instances to fix all its design flaws. It's ok if you like running a quest treadmill by yourself, but if you're used to better MMOs, you see its many many flaws. |

i agree wow is a very golod mmorpg. Its leveling is so good i feel it superior to its end game. "Society in every state is a blessing, but government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one ..." - Thomas Paine |

Originally posted by ActionMMORPG They didn't nerf healers. They made healers think for themselves. You can't spam Flash Heal/Flash of Light/Chain Heal endlessly in all greens and keep a tank at 100% health anymore. I guess technically it is a nerf. But at least now you can't AFK for full phases at a time during bosses like I did on my Rdruid in Wrath. |

Originally posted by Garvon3 I understand basically what you mean but I'd like you to expand on it please. Do you mean for levelling? Obtaining Pre-raid gear? Raiding? As far as raiding, I've done the world boss thing and yeah...never again. Spec'ing properly is a gateway drug. |

WoW was a great game.. until patch 2.3 (the one where they accelerated exp gains) After that, there's not a single positive thing i can say about WoW, not even one. They totally messed up everything after that point. I played the new 1-60 just before Cata launched and that was the last nail in the coffin for me. So yes, it's that bad. |

Originally posted by ichimarunico I seldom healed in heroics or raids since Vanilla. I work so much I can't play more than 2 or 3 hours a week. I am pretty much a part-time alt-a-holic.
My experience as a healer is grabbing a random non-heroic, the tank is either in trash gear (inexperienced) or heirlooms (a wanna-be Rambo), pulls are 3 times the size they should be for the group, there's always at least 1 DPS party member who runs off in the middle of the fight to prove that he can "solo" elites and then runs back half-dead adding aggro to an already overloaded pull.
In LK that kind of fight was still winnable if I could keep mana up and didn't mind burning expensive pots. In CATA they still play the same way but we wipe. As a healer I cannot compensate enough for the group to avoid it.
I think this is the real cause of not being able to find tanks and healers for PUGs. Those kind of runs are not fun. WoW needs DPSers who know how to group or tank-healer classes need to be un-nerfed so they can compensate. Currently in development Wizards and Champions (formerly ActionMMORPG) |
