Wtf,,, I cant resub to Rift. I am at the account page. updated the sub, yet when I try to log in, I still get the message saying "Congrats on buying Rift! your account must be active to play Rift"

 

well everytime I update the sub, it still say inactive.

 

how I fix this?

try logging into the game,  i just resubbed  and the account page said inactive but i had received a receipt saying i had paid.

a little while later the account page caught up

I have just had the same problem but the fix is easy.

 

1.  Update your account with either a gametime card or credit card/paypal details via the Trion Account Management site.  

2.  Once you've done this, close your Rift launcher if it's open, otherwise just open the launcher as per usual and away you go.

 

The problem I had, was that I had my launcher open when I updated my account details and I had the same error as the op, as soon as I restarted the launcher everything was good :)

I've tried to fix this problem with trion support for two weeks now and can't play the game at all. I've tried credit card and paypal for payment and verified from both those that they're not receiving any transactions from trion worlds. According to some trion support person it was even normal for paypal to process the payment for days. He ignored when I said according to paypal they don't have any transactions they're processing. Now my fourth support person is saying I've never been billed according to their system. So I wonder why I was told transaction has been sent to paypal that's processing it, just a few days before him saying there's nothing. And for some strange reason my account has been showing 'active' through all this time in account management but still when I try logging in it says I have to be active to be able to play.

My friend is having similar issues, but instead of not being able to login he can play for free. Trion's support has not commented this at all so far. He didn't get billed at all when he was supposed to and didn't bother about it as he could play. Later on he got a message to activate his account to be able to play so he inserted his credit card information again and was able to play. According to his credit card company he was NOT billed.

I've heard about at least two others having similar problems from guildies. They have got it working with gametime cards. You'll lose founders pricing (if you have it) and the problem will face you again in two months. But you'll be able to play that way.

They do have some problems with account management / billing that they can't fix at the moment.

You keep saying paypal is processing it, doesnt that mean it hasnt gone through yet?

Trion's account management and support persons said paypal is processing the payment. Paypal told me they're not as they haven't received any requests at all. My credit card company said the same thing when I tried using that before paypal. And after 5 or so days account management stopped showing paypal is 'processing' and their customer support said there's no sign of it ever doing it. I have written proof from their own customer support it was doing so and I really can't understand why they're ignoring simple facts and ask again and again if my name is spelled correctly. (It includes first characted of my middle name, but that's how it's written on the card and it has worked for the past 10 years online.) They're even asking if my credit card information is entered correctly when I'm using paypal for payments!

I had a similar issue. Pre-ordered and played through headstart, got my free month, the day it ended I logged into purchase my subscription and as soon as I'd confirm the purchase, it'd go back to the main account page and say I was still Inactive. I waited a while, tried again to the same result. Google'd it, had a hard time finding anyone having my specific issue, so I decided to call it a night and wait again; figured since it was the first day the free month was over, servers might be packed.

 

Waited overnight, same thing. Nobody else I knew had this problem. I called Trion, but got tired of waiting on hold. Tried my wife's card. Tried another card. Even got a friend to let me try his pre-paid card. Nothing was working.

 

I did find a solution, tho. I just used my Paypal account and it went through. Not sure what the problem was, but to be honest, with the billing issues that other companies have encountered before, I kind of prefer to Paypal my subscription money instead of having my direct card information to bill to.

So you're saying even prepaid didn't work for you? But paypal did.

For my guildies it was prepaid that worked.

Paypal hasn't worked for me.

And my friend gets to play for free!

 

This is getting really funny. I'm not even sure if I want to play rift as the trust for trion worlds has gone already. Right now I want to see where this goes and keep harassing their customer support every day. I want them to admit being wrong and that's all.

I have the same problem, been waiting a few days already, tried paypal and different cc cards, contacted customer support several times and all I got was "We are looking into it". Having an issue where a customer can't give you their money is bad..bad business.

As a business, this is the most serious issue.  I would find it hard to believe that they don't want to work with you to solve this problem.  Hope things work out soon.
