I have too many female characters....Many I've put together, many from games....characters from movies I like as well. Consider this a "favorites" list.
Here is a list:
Lelianna (Dragon Age Origins Sacred Ashes Trailer) Gray Witch Karla (The Record of the Lodoss Wars *anime*) Kaname (Full Metal Panic *anime*) Lufia/Erim/Iris/Seena (Lufia series --- they are all the same character in different forms) HUnewearls and FOnewearls (Phantasy Star Online) Selene and Setsuna (From a story I put together) Sakura (Tsubase Reservoir Chronicles Manga (not the anime)) Rukia (Bleach) Lina Inverse (The Slayers *anime*) Leeloo (The fifth element) Lime (saber marrionette J) Storm (X-men) Will (WITCH)
note: Leeloo and Lime are characters which follow a favorite template I find in stories. The "Reflection" template used in female characters. The way it works is a character is raised in a world with a clean slate on all opinions and beliefs. The character commits actions based on positive and negative life experiences and becomes a reflection of the world itself. If the people are evil, so is the character, reflecting the life crossed and path taken. If treated well the character will become good and personal. In these stories, the characters tend to choose a guide or someone to "Guide them" or teach them of the world.
Favorite Archetype for female characters is "The Silent Assasin" or "The Rebelious Princess" I don't mind "The Goddess Archetype" but I despise "The Queen" archetype for female characters.

[Alex] Strong, well-developed character. [Fran] A fine archer to have along in any FFXII play-through. Loved her English voice, and really liked her personality. [Harle] Not sure why I find this awesomely-awesome Jester so awesome, but I do. [Krystal] Krystal. Allllllllright. [Midna] Some found her annoying, but I couldn't get enough of her. I like the way she looks, and found her personality appealing. [Rydia] Really strong personality, was usually the first one out of the pack to say, "Stop crying. We'll get through this."
[Tali'Zorah] LOVED Tali. [Tifa] More strongly developed than most people would admit, she was often the one keeping everyone together during their travels. A kick-ass fist-fighter to boot. |

I can't believe no one has mentioned Bastilla Shan yet...
She was a great mentor/sidekick and the best all-around character from either of the KOTOR games. I almost never left the ship without her.

Gwen, GW. *Spoiler alert* Still remembered her from starting so many alts when I ran into her, as an adult in Eye of the North. Maybe it wasn't her in particular, just good story telling. "Never met a pack of humans that were any different. Look at the idiots that get elected every couple of years. You really consider those guys more mature than us? The only difference between us and them is, when they gank some noobs and take their stuff, the noobs actually die." - Madimorga |

Polgare the sorceress by David & Leigh Eddings. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polgara_the_Sorceress and Kitiara Uth Matar in the Dragonlance series. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragonlance
I really don't know why I'm posting links to these books because every gamer should have read them by now. But then again young people don't read books much these days :/
~sad tidings indeed~ Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries... |

In one sense, Princess Zelda. In every incarnation, she is charming, lovable, wise, noble, and quite simply, good. Sheik is amazing, and Tetra is clever and scrappy. She is just a great character, and is a good role-model for girls when so many female characters are only sex objects. Zelda is usually the love interest in many ways, but she is a respectable character.

Originally posted by Dubhlaith I have to agree. Though, in my first days of exploring the pre-searing area on release, Gwen drove me crazy with her constant following. NO, GWEN! NO. STAY HERE. THERE ARE MONSTERS EVERYWHERE!
In my post I also forgot to mention this AWESOME lady right here. Sheena Fujibayashi (Tales of Symphonia). Naturally I'd also have to throw in Judith (Tales of Vesperia). |
