They do have some horrendous movies on the channel.  The reality stuff is very  sub-par also.  Not sure this is a great match for Trion.  Just have to wait and see.

That announcement looks like it was written by a 10 year old with dyslexia.  Whoever put that on the website without proofreading it should be shot.

Also, Being Human is not their original content as I have seen it assumed here.

I read the announcement like four times, and I still don't think I understand it.

Don't like SyFy name change from SiFi. Eureka, Warehouse 13, Ghost Hunters, and Destination truth are all great shows.

Looking at the way Trion has handled Rift, especially how responsive they were to user feedback during beta, I think this game has some amazing potential.  The game is going to have to respond quickly to the TV series, while the TV series also responds to actions that take place in the game.  Trion seems well suited for this type of thing.

Somebody has the rights to it, but it was originally put on the back burner because they were going to push forward with the Buffy The Vampire Slayer MMO first.  Last I heard they were both on indefinite hold.

Heck, even if they released a game that had horrible reviews, but had a cantina in a mudder town with a folk singer rockin out to "the hero of Cantan" I'd still buy it.

Aaaw, the SyFy Channel miniseries ain't half that bad.

The Lost Room, Triangle, Dune, Tin Man, Alice, pretty fun actually. They also made The Peacekeeper Wars and Battlestar Galactica as a pilot, which weren't bad at all.

Don't forget that the game portion is being developed by Trion, the company that made Rift. Love it or hate it, Rift has a lot of buzz right now and many people are quite impressed with the transparency and connectivity that Trion has with it's player base. 

If this Defiance TV show is any good, I can see the game being great as well. It's a very ambitious concept, which could be great if pulled off right. As far as I know, no MMO has yet managed to progress itself along with an actively progressing IP such as a TV show. This was what the Stargate MMO was supposed to have done before the developers started making bad decisions.

I'm a science fiction fan but... I have to recognize science fiction fans in general have sucky taste and keep crappy shows alive... this is why most of the stuff on the "Syfy" channel stinks... like Eureka, Warhouse13 or almost all their TV movies...

This show is gonna be just as bad if not worst because now it will be further limited by the demands of the MMO-side of the project.

Plus Facebook? Really? Yuck! The last thing I want is my aunt, ex-girlfriend or grade school friend I have not talked to in 25 years checking up on my gaming habits... and we all know how well FB does in the privacy department....

Also... I can't stand how much the Trion guys are overstating what is in reality just cross promotion as "revolutionary". It's like marketing about marketing....

Trion mmo wont be facebook game, announcement is about SYFY games, not defiance or trion, just small part of it, cuz its biggest game , its about all their games, which include facebook and stuff...

Being Human was a BBC show first.  You can see it on BBCA.  Both versions are actually pretty good.

The change to "SyFy" was, in the eyes of a science-fiction fan such as myself, a welcome and somewhat overdue acknowledgment that the channel's focus is in fact wrestling, reality TV, and fantasy B-movies.
