OK in a quandry here. Was kinda misled by tiger direct and now have a 4600k i 7 and cant find any motherboard with intel and sli. Seems all the p67 type 1155 socket can not be found anywhere. They say they expect a delivery any day now but been hearing that for a week. I only have 30 days to return stuff and i have evrything to build but the motherboard.

Im tempted just to mail back the 4600k and get a bit more expensive i7 960 that fits mother 1156 and those i can get. Would you wait or just go with something like i7 960? Thanks for any advice.

I would get the very best you can afford.  That way it leaves nothing to be desired

Ill keep those in mind. I really wanted ASUS P8P67 Deluxe B3 Intel P67 Motherboard.. those others seemed to have mixed review with how good sli is. That is  a must with me. Going to give it a few more days I guess. They said they are adding 15 days to my window of returns without dealing with the manufacter.

If you really want the model motherboard, just place an order and let it ride on backorder, so you'll get it as soon as stock is available.

CPU prices aren't really going to go down any time soon on Sandy Bridge models, so not really any reason to return it if you are eventually going to be using it. I can not recommend getting a Socket 1156/1366 motherboard at this time, even if it means waiting a few extra weeks, as there is just no point in it.

And just to clarify a few small details:
The i7 960 is a Socket 1366 CPU.
The Sandy Bridge CPU you have is the 2600k, there is no such thing as a 4600k.

The new unflawed 1155 p67 boards are landing these days, and are mostly tagged with Beta 3 or something like that. Some are also selling the old boards still, which are working just fine as long as you dont use the flawed port (which most wouldnt anyway).

There is no doubt you should get a 1155 p67 AND a sandy bridge processor marked "K" (2600K for i7, 2500K for i5). With a p67 board and the K processor, all the tests I have seen you have been able to auto-overclock the processor by alot with a box cooler - Like the i7 from 3.6 to 4.5, and the i5 even more. Overclocking with p67 and sandy K is as easy today as clicking the auto-overclock button.. almost.

Why wait for the P8P67 Deluxe?  That won't support SLI any better than some of the cheaper boards I linked, as if you use two slots, they'll both get x8 bandwidth.  If that's your concern, just pay the extra $20 to get the Asus P8P67 WS Revolution.  That will let you have two cards in SLI, both with x16 bandwidth, and comes with the extra long SLI bridge that you'd need in order to use the x16 slots that are four apart.

Just heard word that Asus has been devoting a large number of their B3 stock to work on RMA/return boards from the defective chipset (no surprise there). They are expected to be done with that backlog next week, and that means inventory for Asus P67 products will be greatly increased shortly.
