Stick with it for a few days, if it's still happening I will investigate specific users and if there any adjustments we can make to how we determine "significantly different machine or location" without compromising protection.

are you on a laptop by any chance? i have a laptop with Rift and my desktop and it seem's when i change room's my client on laptop goes into coin lock

Tbh, i wouldnt mind too much if it coin locked always. It only takes around 10 secs to unlock it, and i appreciate the extra layer of security.

Anyway,  i think the system would work better if it had some kind of memory; it wouldn lock if you played from an IP you had used in the pass. If you try from a new one and you unlock it, it  is automatically remembered as a safe ip.

ManWitDaPlan, as he is known on the RIFT forums (the player who found a security hole in RIFT's login system), talked about his experience with Trion and their stance on security:

The response was insane. I wasn't contacted by some support flunky with no authority to do anything but read from a script, I was on the phone with the development team lead. I sent the technical details and got a call back within minutes. Left work to head home, and by the time I got home the server team lead was calling. Before I finished eating dinner the exploit was fixed, some extra features were improved, and all of Telara was cursing my name for making them go hunt down an unlock code in their email.

 Yeah people got to have something to complain about, since no one is complaining about loosing money to hackers anymore, they have to complain about this. Can't make them happy, so may as well make them safe right?

It doesn't lock every log in, just that one patch. If it is locking you you are either logging in from different computers/ISP's or you have a security issue.

I wish I was always coin locked. If I ever wanted to conduct a transaction it is easy enough to unlock. Some people just complain about everything.

yes I play on a laptop :) the thing is I never got my MMO accounts hacked and this everyday coin-locking is geting on my nerves.

last night I was in a warfront and fell into a strange void and got kicked out of the warfront with the 15m penalty. Guess it was not fixed at all. And my guildies had the issue too.

did you report it to trion instead of MMORPG.com? its surprising that most dont report bugs to the people that need to know but to forums where no one cares because it isnt their job.

did you report it to trion instead of MMORPG.com? its surprising that most dont report bugs to the people that need to know but to forums where no one cares because it isnt their job.

it was reported indeed, even my guildies did. but the falling down in warfronts was nto fixed. It's still happening.

Can you provide where you have notified trion about the issue since the update, you know, just so they can fix it?

Remember you are paying for a service, if you don't tell them of issues how can they fix them.

Again this is not realy a gamebreaker, it used to happen once every what 100-500ish ports of a single skill out of probably well over 1000,  and to just 1 out of 32 souls(classes).

I would love to hear about a real "gamebreaker"

then give it a little time, i know trion is fast at fixing bugs and what not but with this security thing, i think they will need a little more time then usual. i've seen it happen in other places, so i know it still happens. maybe by time april is here they will at least know whats causing a person to fall through the world and have it on the list to fix. on another thought, i wonder if WoW had the problem with blinking and falling through the world. seems like the same kinda bug. its missing a check or something before it puts u back into the world.

I never called it a ''gamebreaker'.  I just thought it was absurd to be penalized for it.  And it happens much more often than what you listed.  And it is not just riftstalkers.  It happens on bull rush-type abilities too, if your the target.  Anyways, just an fyi.  I got rid of the game for other reasons.  have fun.
