maybe a bit rought of a title but not much short of it in all the years mmorpgs have came out all we have seen are similar games..
mmofps = games like counterstrike , new weapons and graphics and maps but thats it ( but hey fps can be fun without content so im fine with that much) but!!! the mmorpg genre has been a sad world for us my dear fellow mmorpg players i'll started with wow , all in all its a good game i wont deny that , it has all that a casual player would want but! why in gods name did every game since decide to try and be wow 2? the last games i have played all have so much similar to wow i just wonder why even bother playing them since hey.. i could just play wow aion (wow with wings and a bit of pvp added) rift (this game just takes features from other popular games ) i wont list more games since i can keep calling out names... but all in all why is it that we see the same damn game remade with new graphics and a few new functions? where is the originality between the developers a good example of thing i like darkfall online eve online mortal online there are a few companies who try.. try and make something else wich i personally find very good for us mmorpg players u dont have to love these games , but u must agree that if not more games that are different come out the next 20 games releasing will just be more wow clones . so please tell me.. dont u guys feel scammed? every company releasing "wow 2 the wow killer" stealing loads of features from wow and adding a few of their own calling it a new game , making u pay 50 euros + monthly fee's again. i personally feel scammed , i dont mind paying for a game that has hard work put into it , i dont mind paying for a month of fun . but i do mind pâying 50 euros to find the damn same thing every time
whats ure opinion forum? |

Originally posted by dosengan If you don't want games that are similar to WoW, then why do you pick out games that are similar to WoW and play those? Why not try some games that are rather different, if you want something different? You say you like Darkfall, EVE, and Mortal Online. Well, if that's what you like, then why not pick up some other recent sandbox games, such as Uncharted Waters Online or Xsyon? The former is made by Tecmo-Koei, so that's hardly some obscure independent developer. |

Ok, copying EQ is bad but copying UO is good? I agree that Eve is an interesting game and we need more games that try to make it's own thing instead of using someone elses ideas. MO did stated that they wanted to make a new UO. That is not better than copying EQ even if you prefer that kind of gameplay. We are not really getting scammed because most games are similar, no one forces you to move from Wow to Rift. We are getting scammed because P2P games add itemshops but that is a very different thing that in the long run will might destroy the entire P2P idea. |

first off i try out as manny games as i can
second of i would not see eve or darkfall as an ultima online clone at all , they are both different in SO manny ways its not even comparable the only thing they share is the "sandbox" part wich in all honesty is VERY vast |

EVE is the most unique MMO to come out in a very long time. How can you not include lots of stuff from EQ when EQ copy pasted most of these features from single player games? There is just so much you can put in an RPG. EQ got most of its features from RPGs and put them in the MMORPG genre when it was new. EQ did not reinvent the wheel now did it? Of course, it will be much harder for new MMOs to come up with something new. It's not a brand new genre. |

Originally posted by dosengan This is all WoW did....Bliz just had their timing right to bring it to the market and make is accessible to everyone. Looking at gaming on a game by game basis i dont' think helps much because you dont get a feeling for the big leaps, you just sense small insignificant changes as the player. So things like BF1942 to BF2, to BF2142 is nothing, but BF 1943 to BF3 is a huge jump in graphics and mechanics, though the heart it's still just shooting. same for MMO's. It's not until you do a large leap from say EQ to RIFTs that you see we are making great strides and improvements. the problem with coming up with new game plays is that you have to get all the funding and dev time on the project, and i dont think most investors liek taking those chances. |

I agree with Quizzical. Not all new MMOs are copies of WoW, but people won't play the ones that aren't copies of WoW because *surprise* a whole lot of players enjoy WoW so they despise games that lack the features that they liked in WoW. |
