Plan: Gonna level monk from 1-18 to get sub job. then travel to Windurst and level both WHM and BLM to level 10, quest for Drain scroll. Then run to San d'Oria, and level Warrior up to about 20-25, while questing to raise fame. then back to Bastok to do missions and quests until Rank 3. Then I get Aspir, and continue Warrior to 30-35-ish, and switch off to Dark Knight.

Ok, so I bought the game and patched it, and now it turns out i gotta wait two weeks until I can create a char on the titan server >.<

Guess ill create a temp character to learn the game and play some xiv instead.

Yeah, it's those darn server merges. Titan is moving to Phoenix, so they're not lettin anyone create new characters on either of em. But yeah, you'll be creating your character on the Phoenix server.

Well Playonline neglected to say that registering a new card was unavailable and was clear SE CS was unaware also. Well I'm in the game again but got to wait till server merger to join.

Tempting. I had so much fun in this game I think more fun than I have ever had in any other MMO. I just don't know if I have the time for it anymore! My life was boring when I started playing it now everything is abit more hectic.

Brief Update

Just wanted to stop in and tell everyone how things are going so far. The linkshell is up and running with many members that are online on a regular basis. Most of us are really making an effort to move develop characters and have been having a lot of fun with great exp parties and experiencing some of the basic content. Its still fun after all these years.

Due to recent events the servers and now the game itself is in a state of flux. SE has decided to help the recovery effort from the earthquake and tsunami in Japan by shutting down the servers for both FFXI and FFXIV for about a week. Also, their was a server merge scheduled for Titan to be merged with Phoenix on March 16th, which has been cancelled until the next major update. The servers are currently unavailable and when they are functional, no new characters can be made for the time being.

All is not lost! We do have a ventrilo channel thanks to one of our members and forums thanks to our fearless leader Raystantz (Azmyth) that can be accessed here: Reformation.

Until then we are going to be hanging around and playing other games, chatting and trying out other stuff. Speaking for myself as well as the LS, we are going to stay hopeful that the situation in Japan improves and that the nation will recover from this disaster as a whole. Somme of us are donating to relief funds in respect for the free month that SE is giving us for lost time on the game. I would rather see that 15 bucks go to food, water and shelter for some of the families struggling overseas.

What I would recommend is visit the forums and get to know some of us in the meantime. The LS really turned out to be a great group of players who enjoy the game and helping each other out. When the servers are back up and running, the merge is finally complete then we are going to be able to take on some new members willing to join us in our ragtag adventures in Vanadiel.

Just want to take a moment to let anyone who has been wanting to join up with us or who may not have understood whats going on.

Right now we are all patiently awaiting the servers to be turned back on, due to the tragedies over in Japan. Tomorrow is the day. However, with the next version update there is supposed to a server merge, that would merge us into Phoenix.

We are currently on Titan. I believe, you cannot create characters on Titan right now, and won't be able to until this merger happens. Now, for those wanting to join us.. this could cause some issues. So you have a few options..

1. Roll on Phoenix, and once the servers merge we'll all be together.. however this would cause you to not have the cool factor of getting to do stuff with us right off the bat.

2. Come join us over at our forums www.reformationlinkshell.tk and just hang out and get to know everybody while you wait. Everyone is nice and friendly. You won't find a better group of people in ANY game.

We just want to let everyone know that we are still recruiting, and what to expect. Thanks!

I'm not seeing Phoenix listed.

Cerberus, Quetzalcoatl, Bismark, Lakshmi, Asura, Sylph, Leviathan, and Valefor are the only options showing at this moment when creating a new character.

Can't even use a world transfer - Content ID must be 90 days old .

I came across this post and mentioned it to my girlfriend and it seems that we're going to be making the switch back over to XI. We are long time mmo vets (she actually started on XI and I was on DAOC) and it has gotten to the point right now where the games out  have just lost their appeal. She still plays WoW and enjoys it but that 6 year ship has sailed for me. While I do look forward to getting my hands on TERA and GW2, I need a place to call home for the time being.

That said, we were thinking of coming back around and starting fresh on a new server from the ground up and given the nature of this thread, if you all havent jumped too far ahead we would love to hop aboard and rock it like its.... 2001? heh.

Anyway, if you could give another status update on whether the LS is accepting new people and if you all are still actively playing, that'd be great!

Same here. Hopefully you still check this. I'm looking to join up with you guys. I've always wanted to actually do all of the missions of the game, but I could never find people to do it with which is why I quit. I had a 36 BLU, but I'll reroll if it means to play with a group of people who want to play.

Heck yes, we're accepting new people. We're all a little bummed that character creation on Titan and Phoenix is locked till the merge. We have quite a few people waiting to get in.  Actively playing is an understatement! There's always groups doing things at all hours!

I would love to play, but what's up with the registration? it's even worse than FFXIV....

I just dont get it, after 7years (?), they should make it easier.

So, what can I do to get an invite to the linkshell?

I forgot my play online ID, so I sent them an email saying Ive forgotten my ID, so they sent me an email back saying "sorry to hear you have fogotten your ID, please contact support on this phone number - make sure you have your play online ID ready before you call"

man. this is my first post on mmorpg.com, but i've been lurking for a loooong time. this is just the first post i've been interested enough in to reply to. i've been in and out of mmos for a while now, and really hoping to stay subscribed to ffxi for more than a month again. i played way back at release, and then left the game. my linkshell was dissolved before i came back, and i just haven't been able to find a good enough community of players since. i've resubscribed at least four times and just haven't really stayed.

i'm hoping to join the ls as soon as the server is back open to new characters. i'm really looking forward to it.

first real post. i've posted before, but never in the interest of being involved in the community, or really being useful to the conversation at all.

I have such fond memories of this game and really want to come back, however what is your server population like at the moment? Is it small or large or somewhere in between. As someone who loves crafting this is actually a pretty big deal for me and if you could supply info I would be very thankful for it.
