Clearly people are sick of the same crap being pushed out by devolopers, but lets be honest, this game -IS- a WoW-Clone, and a poor one at that.

 

Simple put, the combat system is no innovative, or refreshing, same old story, auto-attack, chance-rolls, ect.

The animinations are rudamenteray, basic, lackluster, and ackward, game feels off due to it's basic animations, nothing new in the terms of linear play, quest hubs, ect, ect.

Nothing new about the "Soul" system as it's just taking what would normally be 1 full class and breaks it into 3 sub-classes, with the superfluous notion of creating more superferical playable classes with the intent of bulking their game features marketing, hardly impressive.

 

The community is troll-ridden, very much like -any- blizzard title, quests are on par with the typical -vanilla- content of WoW, not even very well thought out.

 

Graphics are horrid -- People keep telling me the graphics are amazing.. and i'm like shellshocked... F2P WoW-Clones have better graphics then this.. with Aion being over a year old, with plans of throwing out their P3 update which includes a huge graphic update, how can -ANY- one claim this game has great graphics? The shaders are terribad.

Simply put, it's a WoW-Clone with a gimmick, and it is a WoW-Clone, taken from their OWN marketing ad....

 I havnt read any posts from anyone claiming the game to be a savoir. I have read post's from people saying the game is good and enjoyable and other posts claiming the game is blah.

Well i agree with him and i played the beta,all 7 of them right up to level 42. From IT to Fae to DD-DM then on to Foul Cascade to King Breech and finishing with Runic Decent, that qualified enough for you?

I played two toons on both faction and done every quests on both sides except some of the souls quests. I also done more rift than i can count but from 5th beta i was not interested in rifts at all, just a big zerg fest with who can tag each mob quicker.I also done all PVP-warfronts up to level 42 and i agree with the OP.

So i can say the more you play the more boring the game becomes. Now this is my opinion having played a hell of a lot of the game.

I could give many more reasons more but i have already done that in other posts, no point in repeating myself.

Although I have not reached max level in the game I am having fun.  I really do not judge the game on graphics.  LOL I can remember people coming here and talking about how cartoonish WOW's graphics were.  I prefer Rift's graphics to WOW's and again like you that is my opinion. 

You nor I are mad.  Treating other people like they have gone mad or stupid because they like a game and you do not honestly makes no sense.  What I play or what I like does not effect you.  Having said that you do not need to stress out because some people like Rift.

I always say different strokes for different folks.  I think WOW must be your first game.  My reason for stating this is WOW did the same thing Rift has done.  They took ideas from previous games and improved on them and made WOW.  WoW was not groundbreaking as other games that were and are live today that came before WOW. play almost the same way. I see people come here wanting the next gen MMORPG and honestly in MY Opinion you can only do an MMORPG so many time before it in fact does get old or feel like you have played it before.. 

We all come here and complain about the quests.  We come here and complain about how we have been there and done some of this before in our last MMORPG.  We all come here and talk about how great the next MMORPG will be and guess what if we have played one for any length of time, the next one will have mechanics taken from other games.  I look in these forums and have been coming here for a long time.  I mean come on how many different ways can you do a fetch quest or a kill something quest or a delivery quest?  The answer is basically in every mmorpg they are still the same quests as you can only hide the true nature of the quest so many times.

How many ways can you do classes.  Trust me even in the mighty GW2 coming out there will still be cookie cutter builds for given situations and group makeups.. 

I play a game to have fun and if I am not having fun then I do not play it.  All the evaluations, recommendations, previews and reviews be damned, will not change the way I think about any game I play as all writers must be paid and they are paid thru advertisements.

The world has not gone mad. Some of us gamers are having a blast in Rift and that is ok for you not to like it.

Three groundbreaking MMORPG games come to my mind and they are Ultima Online, Everquest 1, and Daoc.  The rest are just copies of these games to some extent.  One Sci-Fi MMORPG game comes to mind EVE.

ok so I can SORT of see where the OP is coming from. As many people have said Rift literally blind sided the MMO world with what it offered and how complete the game was at launch.

Before people heard of Rift, SWToR and GW2 were going to be the "saviours" that would fix the "injustice" Blizzard was doing to the MMO world. <--yes people do take MMO's that serious

Now a game comes along that upgrades a lot of MMO's that came before and it is gaining success. SWToR and GW2 people would no doubt be amazed by this.

As I used in my example before. When T-mobile releases a new phone do you call it the Sprint 2.0 phone because it has some sprint feature and sprint is older?

America does not work like that.

I liked WoW, how it started, how it felt. I don't like the direction it headed or what it became.

Rift is like a reboot in a sense. You go back to the vanilla world and start over, only this time they head to the direction you feel is right for a change.

Odd. I'm seeing a bunch of people posting that they find it fun. Most of them say that it does what WOW did which is to take each aspect of the current state of the genre and improve on it. Savior?  The next 'leap' in MMOs?  Where are you seeing all these posts?

 Simple Minded Kids...seriously...MY gaming goes back to the days of Pre-Tram UO...I've played A LOT of games inbetween and in the past 13 years I have found ones that were good and ones that were bad. Some I have liked and some I have not while others had the opposite opinion which is fine. I like RIFT and you don't...great. But don't sit here and pretend you're some wonderful elite gamer and call people who like RIFT simple minded kids...I find it does what any game should do and be fun. {mod edit}
