I personally thought they had launched too many servers but i just checked the server status and they are perfectly implemented. |

Time passes. Active players trickle out. Most servers die out, some remain heavy because of advertising them as active in forums. They merge. Names get taken, people bitch. Writer / Musician / Game Designer Now Playing: Skyrim, Wurm Online, Tropico 4 |

Just checked the Rift server status. In North America there's only 3-4 Low Population servers out of 58. Way to go Trion! =) |

Trion has shown again and again that they know what they're doing. I've been very impressed by them. I won't be playing Rift, too much going on with work and going to school full time, but I'm glad to see how smart they are being with things. I'm VERY excited to see them succeed and then move on to their SyFy project! |

I feel that Rift is primarily played by working, casual adults. It explains the low server status during the day and high peaks during the evening. |

Its a rather simple fomula. 1ST you add as many servers as you can becuase of the rush of ppl they are going to have to handle. 2ND you will have a sustancial decline in subs and the servers will be reduced to accomadate. 3RD rinse, wipe, the server status will depend on players (sometimes they get large influxes of ppl fo r some reason or other (New feature, God Fix Patch, etc) or those very same reasons can lead to further decline in subs.
Translation 1... Best game ever, gotta get it, gotta get it. Woot I got it (large server amount) WoW clone, WoW clone, game sucks, they lied (servers decline) They they just added ffa PVP, I am so there ( Servers increase) or (Servers declined) Translation 3.. i can't think of anything clever at the moment, pls help
And just to be clear, new games, espc AAA games have a rather normal curve when it comes to this topic It's only a model |

There's a difference between a realist and a pessimist, a realist don't look at a currently successful problem free games and then say that it will fail, a pessimist does. Also weren't you among the people that say FF XIV will stand on it's feet again and become successful like FF XI? So much for being a realist then..... Never changes? WoW, LOTRO, EVE would like to have a word with you. Knowing you from FF XIV board can I safely say that you're just butthurt ;) |

The retention power of the game is the reasons to visit low level zones. Example: Meridian is located in low level zone, that is the main center for pvp merchants, vendors, highest level trainres. Unlike most games, this causes high level players to mingle with the noobs and gives a feeling of being populated. |

Originally posted by SnarkRitter All three had the same problem with roughly 40% of the people that jumped in on the launch phase staying past it. WoW is a fluke in general, don't relate it to any other MMO because it just doesn't work. That's a game that has popped millions of MMO-gamer cherries, and no other game is going to find that many hymens ever again. LotRO did OK, then had to reinvent the wheel by going (somewhat) F2P Eve struggled for years and then hit a stride in 2006, 3 years after what can be considered an easily failed launch.
Launch-phase retention issues NEVER change. All three had it, all three got over it in time. *TIME*, and quite a bit of it had to pass for some of them to do it.
~and no, I never said anything about FFXIV beyond that whole discussion on it needing the ability to jump, which I still think is a retarded claim. It's not getting back on it's feet, that much is obvious. Nice try though. Writer / Musician / Game Designer Now Playing: Skyrim, Wurm Online, Tropico 4 |

You can not say they did a good job just yet considering its only day 2 or 3 of post launch, Free month doesnt end until beginning of april, when that happens then you can look and see if the servers are balanced or not... |

Why can't you say they did a good job? They picked a number out of the hat and it turned out to be very close to exactly how many servers they needed for launch. Join the League For Gamers. |

This is like a buying a new car just to stop driving it because you need to put gas in it. I can understand not driving it because it keeps breaking down, but if it is running smooth and you enjoy why would you get rid of it? Where is the game breaking qq on the forums? Outside of Saboteur and Mana drain qq nothing is screaming broken game to me yet. |
