Turbine's Joe “jwbarry” Barry has written about a new instanced dungeon coming to Lord of the Rings Online with Update 2. Called "Ost Dunhoth", the dev blog details the cohesion that players will need to employ in order to be successful within the raid. This, Barry feels, sets Ost Dunhoth apart from the rest.

"You will wipe many, many times but it will be because the minstrel didn't heal in time, the hunter stole threat, the tank didn't back up out of the fire, your DPS didn’t coordinate on targets, someone broke a crowd control (CC), etc. It will be because of something you did wrong. You can then analyze this, learn from it, and avoid repeating the same mistakes. You can get better, not lucky." I approve. A strange design direction for a casual themepark MMO to take, but a welcome one.

It is nice to see that they actually try to make the game fun. Many hours we have waited because of cooldowns. What is the point of that? Now if they would only take the same approach towards the rest of the game mechanics, we would be sitting on gold. |

I hope one can purchase this separate from the other things coming down the pipe, because I for one don't want my TP points used to subsidize a playstyle I don't enjoy. |

I am glad Turbine is branching out into allowing for different playstyles for different gamers. Some like pvp, some like pve, and some enjoy the raids. Not to mention there is all the themepark questing one can do also. The game really has a lot of variety which again Im glad to subscribe to. |
