I'm trying to find something to play, and right now I'm leaning towards going back to FFXI. I am not feeling RIFT and I really wanted to like this game. I thought to myself, if its still free what would I have to lose.. but also don't want to waste alot of time. Is there any point in even bothering to try to play this right now? Are you playing? |

The population on Mysidia is active but I'm not sure about the others. I've notice a big surge in the population over the last 2 weeks. Possibly due to people giving it a shot now that it's playable. My only warning is that it still lacks content. If you dont want to grind or do Leves over and over again you might want to wait for a patch with content. |

Sadly, not yet. I'm coming back once-twice a week only to de the same leves for the 500s time only because I cba sitting if front of my pc and want to play something with a remote on the bed :) Other than the "one of the only mmos that can be perfectly played with a remote" there isn't much going for FFXIV, sadly. If you are about to buy something, I hear DCUO is a better candidate for that role today (that is if you are into all that hero stuff). Many posters below me, and I'll join them, will tell you to wait for the next content patches. "Only in quiet waters do things mirror themselves undistorted. |

Evverything is still very counterintutive. It's a good game thats fairly empty content wise at the moment. Besides the story quests you pretty much grind your way through to Level 50. Even the guildleves are really just a faster way to grind. That being said FFXI was a slow starter and FFXIV has only gotten better. It's free, the newer big MMOs (KOR, GW2, SW, Tera, D3, and B&S) havent come out yet and are at least 3 - 6 months away. Frankly there's little to no downside. Even if you decide to leave it in a few months, you could always come back and have a high level character once the new content and expansions are out. I'm enjoying it, along with Vindictus, its the only game that doesnt feel like a different version of WoW out right now. |

It is getting better slowly but surely, the first step is they are trying to repair the user interface but thats coming along, at the moment having a Rank 50 is pretty much just for bragging rights but endgame is supposed to be coming along soon so we are using the free to play thing to get a bunch of job up in rank before the updates start really changing the game. Originally posted by xKingdomx It lacks content atm. So unless your idea of fun is grinding to 50, social interaction, and hunting Notorious Monsters then no. I recommend waiting for a content patch before trying it out. |

Despite what everyone like to rant and rave about here on the forums, the game isn't as bad as they would have you think. It's a very solid and refreshing game, especially at it's core. The main issue is the lack of content which is supposed to start being corrected in may.
The bottom line is that if you try to approach the game like any other MMORPG (even FFXI), you're going to dislike it. Playing it for what it is however is quite fun. I wouldn't recommend the solo life, however. <3 |

If you already have XIV, why not try the head start for Rift? And hop between the two as you see fit. Guild Wars 2's 50 minutes game play video: |

FF14 has gotten a lot better now. I'm addicted to it again. But like most of the reader said, I agreed that it does not have much content, but I think this will be fixed very soon. SE has fixed the party SP bug, so partying is very viable now. This game is just beautiful and I like it very much. I tried Rift but I didn;t like it. Luckily I still able to sell my CE copy, at 40% discount though.. : (

Originally posted by CodeFuzer I haven't quite left this game so it doesnt qualify but I never go back to a game. It just doesnt happen. To the OP, MMOs rely on content with a high replay value. This one flopped bad in that department. Nothing has really changed there. |

Originally posted by Xzen This^ I log in, realize there's still no game here, and log out without having really played the game. It's a shame really, such a beautiful looking world (for the most part, zones are rather poorly designed) and little content to make it playable. I find it odd that the sandbox community that doesn't need 'content' aren't playing this game. Maybe sandboxers aren't truly looking for sandbox games with no handholding after all? |

Originally posted by Emeraq Sandboxers don't need developer made contents, that's true. However, we need tools to make our own content. And FF XIV lacks both tools and content, that is the reason nobody, even sandboxers are looking at it. If sandboxers aren't looking for sandbox games with no handholding then EVE Online wouldn't have survived and prospered. Oh and FF XIV is not a sandbox MMORPG, it's a themepark MMORPG like the the likes of WoW, LOTRO,EQ,etc...., get your shit straight before posting bullshit. |
