I just spent the last 2 day playing and I have to agree. The art work and skills are just so blah. The game looks decent but the art is very mediocre.
The skills for the mage also seems very blah. The nukes hit as hard as the instant cast and I'm not sure why. I also don't see any interesting fusion in abilities. It's all just very oatmeal without any sugar. |

I think that this game suffers from the same problems that WAR did--it has no soul. The game just feels lifeless. It's kind of hard to explain but the game world just doesn't feel "alive" to me.

The main reason I wont play beta anymore is because I know if I lvl to cap, theres no way this game has the replayability for me to lvl another char after launch. |

Having tried the Beta, I know it strives to be a good MMO... some will enjoy this for sure, they will invest time and money for this game. But for me in an overall perspective, it lacks personality or shall we call it "Identity crisis syndrome". We all know it got alot of its features from Wow to War and uses the same graphic engine of War but with some improvements but you still see some similarities. We all know, the banner of the Devs... that they really meant this game to become solid, fluid in terms of gameplay, they took alot of features from other mmo and made it much better. But in a saturated mmo market, i just dont know if this could be the best formula to make it the best game in the market. I guess i'll just put my hopes, to GW2 and SWTOR still... I just can't feel the flare in Rift. http://alex-the-informer.blogspot.com/ |

Mediocre is exactly how I described it to my friends. It seems to try really hard at doing nothing bad, and succeeds. But it also doesn't do anything particularly impressive either. Just mediocre. |

When the kids grow up and mature they will realize what Rift is all about and will laugh at WoW. I will always love UO and i still have my account active after 13 years, but the fact that WoW has run it's course and Rift and GW2 are that much better it's just time to say good by.. WoW was a great game for many people for many years but the horse is dead... "It would be awesome if you could duel your companion. Then you could solo pvp".--Thanes |

I've only been to level 12, but so far I think all the things that define rift (the Rifts, Events, Soul system) are fun, however the bad questing and lack of worldliness kind of bring it down a good deal, ultimately making it a game you play for a up to 4 months, if that. The beginner zone where the player is back in time, is good, but after that, it is just mediocre, if it wasn't for the rifts. They said that the amount of rifts are more than it would be when the game is live, but as of now the game is average and unmemorable without them. The event occurring less often would be fine though. I'm going to wait till level 20 before giving a in depth review of it.

pre-orders mean nothing. Pretty much every failed MMORPG released in the last five years has sold tons of boxes. |

Originally posted by MMO.Maverick It's just a feeling I get when I'm playing it, that's why I said that it's hard to explain. I guess if I could put it into words, the game world just feels like a static backdrop for your character to move through as you run from quest hub to quest hub. It may be the art style, the sounds, the NPCs, world animations or a combination of all of those things. Either way, I don't expect others to share my feeling and I could be completely off base, it's just something that popped into my head when I was playing yesterday.

Pretty much hit it dead on. I often think of it as 2011 World of Warcraft meets Aion. Nothing new, same old stuff. |

Haven't read this entire thread but what I am taking away from all of this is you have yet another high fantasy MMO that takes no risks, takes the best ideas from Warhammer and Warcraft, but doesn't have either of those games' excellent IP? Wait, why does anyone want to play this game again? |
