The Anti-smokers and government interfered. I wish they would stay out of our lives! The reasons I smoke? To keep my blood pressure low. Epidemiological studies show that smokers tend to have lower blood pressure than non-smokers and that blood pressure increases after smoking cessation. It's amazing how easy it is to bond with others who smoke, plus its an easy way to make friends!

I like the part where you try and justify smoking to yourself. For myself, I participate in any Hitler-esqe genocide whenever I can because it's a great way to lose weight and keep it off. That's a fact. Your leaving out all the epidemiological effects. Yes quitting raises your risk of getting diabetes. But smoking is what got you there in the first place. This doesn't make any sense. Prevent obesity? Why not be a responsible human and eat healthy and exercise. This is proven to keep you from getting fat. From my understanding it's exactly the opposite, you raise your risk of getting Alzheimer's Disease dramatically by smoking. You fail to mention that when you quit smoking your ulcerative colitis often relapses. Yes it's a great idea to smoke during a pregnancy. Highly recommended.

The reason why you smoke is the same reason why a drug addict takes his heroin. Don't fool yourself! |

You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL! |

I have been looking at the way I smoke. 90% of the ime I smoke half of the cig and put it out. So, I decided to try that new E-Cig. I have heard many people praising it and how it has helped them quit smoking too. Anyways, the starter kit was around 10.00 USD. So far there doesnt seem to be any harmful effects. Has anyone here tried those?

The best way to quit is to eat one. You will instinctively hurl in your mouth the moment it hits your tongue, and you won't want one after for quite some time. When you get the inclination to again, try eating another. Didn't work too well for me though, I quit for about a day before stress factors got me to buy another pack. Statistically it is lot less dangerous to my health than driving.
A pack of 20 costs me £7. ($11.2).
I'm not very keen on anti-smoking nazi's. I think it's a qustion of civil liberty. |

Originally posted by outfctrl i dont know if it will work for you but i used to smoke a pack a day and i bought an e-cig. they really work. Its water vapor and a hint of nicotine...and you still get the buzz that wakes you up in the morning...you can also smoke it anywhere since it is simply water vapor that is expelled. |

Originally posted by Enigma On the topic of e-cig, do businesses really allow you to smoke it on their property/store? It seems to me like they wouldn't like the image it portrays as customers witnessing the event would think it's a real cigarette instead of a fake one. I would also venture to guess you would get rude comments because of said image. |

As for cig smoking, I hate when prudes make me walk 25 feet from the entrance of the building to smoke my cig just because they don't want a faint whiff of smoke as they walk by. It's the same prudes that send anonymous e-mails griping about perfumes/deodorants etc, or bitch about what people are eating for lunch. They are the same people that hold their ears when an ambulance goes by. The only time griping about a smell is ok is if the person is morbidly obese and doesn'y shower, in which case I'll be the first to tell them to go change clothes and put some deodorant on. |

Originally posted by baff I buy my smokes (Winston Reds) by the carton. It costs like $50.00 USD for 10 packs here in Florida. I spend almost $200.00 USD a month on smokes, but usually only smoke a half of cigarette a time, then put it out. The E-cigs now cost $80.00 USD a month for 10 cartridges which equals 2 cartons (20 packs) of smokes. You really do get that nicotine buzz off of them. They even have a good taste too. Then again, you cant hang them out of your mouth like this:
They are too heavy, that I do not like. I charge the battery through a USB port on my computer.

Never understood the point of slowly killing yourself, but whatever knocks you out. My fathers lifetime friend just died from various smoke related illnesses at around 65. Didn't go down well. Basically suffered horribly his last 10 yrs. |
