This ofcourse discounts EvE which has massive fights but it's not the same as physically controlling your character. I believe Darkfall has the largest and best PvP scene out of all the currently released MMOs, are there any MMO's you'd put up out there as simular sized / action packed PvP? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOtp0Pn740c http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUNoFdf4F-A http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5wLuLvhlZU (skip to about 2 mins in) Aion came close to the size of the actual PvP but we all know those fortress battles were just one sided lag fests. Never played a game with better PvP than DF. WoW and Aion had good PvP but it was of a different type and didn't get the adrenline going. So what say you? Are there better PvP games out there?
Mortal Online promised something simular although less PvP based. (The game still needs work though) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILaktOZKgek |

if you are asking for the largest scale PVP- then that would be www.battlegroundeurope.com the other question was, best pvp- well that's left to be seen- I played darkfall for over a year and pvp is fun but it's by far from great. |

Asheron's Call 10 years ago. WoW when Alterac Valley first opened and there was no time limit the battles would rage on all day/night which was pretty epic. The first Darkfall video was beautiful and contained the actual gamesounds which is rare. My favorite part of the third video (quite dated) was around 2:30, hundreds of people getting ready to assult a city...theres some guy mining a metal node. Classic. |

Sorry but I think Lineage II still holds this title as the castle sieges are truly epic in that game. 300 vs. 300 is quite common during a siege and I've yet to see a game match it. The whole game is designed with massive scale PvP as it's primary focus.

Darkfall definitely can have some good city fights. The only other game that has been consistently fun large scale PvP recently for me is Warhammer. Unlike DF, you can be constantly in PvP and that is how you level mainly. However, no loot, kinda just respawn fairly close by for most maps and run back so there isn't much virtual fear as much as DF and definitely no death penalty like EVE. I was in keep fights in Aion near launch, but they were 100% a numbers game imo. There is zero skill in building your character, just RNG and time. WAR at least has different ways you can roll. Looking forward to Earthrise. It has the tools to allow largescale PvP, but lag etc hasn't really been tested. Right now they're on a sortof temp test server even. The only difference between us and them is, when they gank some noobs and take their stuff, the noobs actually die." - Madimorga |

I will have to say Lineage 2. It has very large scale PvP and imo the BEST PvP. By best I mean the sheer intensity, epicness and meaning behind it all. Darkfall is good to, but it isn't nearly as polished as L2. It's too bad most will never experience it since it takes forever to grind to a competitive level in which to experience it. |

Once you have been in a ship battle with about 4 medium sized boat, 1 large size boat, around at least 3 different clans at war with each other, with at least 100 people on the mini map in darkfall like the Sun vs ZAgenda sea tower battle your view of what is good pvp in an MMO changes forever....
I didnt add that in addition too all of the above is the level of antecipation because of everything that goes behind getting ready for something that epic.
does your game have rainbow sprinkles and magic ponies!? |

Lineage 2. I was once on the defending side of Aden Castle. It was something like 29+ clans against 24+ clans. The very first rush locked up my computer (and others) for about 30 seconds. it was a non-stop 2 hour fight. We lost but only in the last 7 minutes of the siege. Simply put it was the very best pvp experience I've ever experienced. |

Morever when you know your above to lose a few hours worth of gear gathering. does your game have rainbow sprinkles and magic ponies!? |

Am I misunderstanding this, Im not getting why this discounts EvE? Controling a person is no different, and probably easier than controling a ship in a fleet battle. If you've played EvE you'll know how utterly focused and on the ball you have to be to survive and be effective in a large scale fleet battle. Not only that there's death penalty if you die, i.e. you lose your ship, which makes you care more. Quote for numbers; "A landmark battle is currently raging in the system of LXQ2-T, with thousands of pilots fighting for control of the system. The number of players in the system peaked at over 3,110 pilots, with alliances from the Northern Coalition political conglomeration facing off against the Russian power block from the drone regions" |

The doctors say his chances are 50/50...but there's only a 10% chance of that. |

Yes don't include EVE - the MMO that would obviously answer your question instantly. Change thread title to "Second Largest scale PvP/Second Best PvP" please. El Psy Congroo |

Lineage 2 hands down. I've been part of some truly epic, gigantic battles that I've never seen replicated in any MMO. Nothing like being a blade dancer and tearing through a group of 50 people to cause havoc! |

Or even change the thread title to; "Largest Scale and Best PvP in an MMO Ive either played and am interested in, not including EvE which has the largest by a country mile and is quite clearly a valid MMO and not a text based sci-fi shooter..." |

Originally posted by shae +1 It was the only game that had a trully epic feeling. I was on huge castle sieges, with so many people fighting eachother at the open aden castle yard. Or just provoke another clan to come to a big cave and have be a huge clan vs clan battle Ah nice days
Too bad it has ridiculous amounts of grind and balance is epicly stupid and luck based, especially in a 1v1 olympiad... Sigh, i miss it, was very nice game at least
Maybe i should play again, but will probably need to go for a new server that will have promising population and 5x more xp than normal servers Woof! |

Best large-scale PVP: Planetside Best PVP: I find the best PVP in LOL currently (and in the past from FPSes, fighting games, and RTSes.) Personally I feel it's sort of a joke to call it "PVP" when fights are completely pre-determined like they are in DF or EVE, where there's no interesting decisions to be made during the fight. All of the important decisions are made before the fight, and tend to be so abstract or bland that they're not very interesting (basically (a) mass more friends, and/or (b) accumulate more wealth/progression.) But some people like the zerg and grind. I like when combat is an interesting match of wits and skill with my opponent. Completely different from what you find in DF/EVE. |

Valid objection could be technical reasons. Direct control over your avatar and having your ship following predictable trajectory are two very different things and have significatnt impact on performance. |

Well you dont like eve, which is the killmail hore monger of large scale MMO PvP. So, I would have to agree that Darkfall is next in line. Nice thing about DF is not only can the PvP be large but it can be creative and engaging. DF clearly shines best with gang PvP whether ship borne, on foot or from mounts. It has a wide variety of ways to deal death coupled with dynamic environments. Example, once we were on our way to help some allies over land by mount. We were about 30 or 40 in number. Unknown to us the enemy knew we were coming and set a trap. As we rounded a hill they were waiting with about 50 or so. We stopped on the hill next to them and dismounted and they did the same on thier hill. Then all hell broke lose and a huge brawl started in the valley between the hills. We got owned pretty bad but it was fun and makes a good point about how mature and diverse the PvP has become in DF. My only complaint is I wish you could color your gear because in a huge fight you can't tell friend from foe. |
