This game wont do any better as a revamp. If they admit failure they might as well just kill it and bury it, give everyone who bought it, a key to FF11 and go home. I dont want that. The game has a future but revamp is not the future. |

My biggest fear after the survey is that they will pull a NGE on us. Though it certainly has flaws, I very much enjoy most of the games quirks. Going to the WoW-clone route would simply kill my interest in the game.
More specifically,
What we DO need are

Nah, it'll be good for XIV since its still young. Look at FFXI, while the core of the game hasn't changed much, its undergone quite a few changes in the past year, with the lvl 99 cap increase ~ allowing for class combinations of incredible power ~ Abyssea which changed the entire style of how XI is played above 75 {me wonders what they plan to do for the final 9 levels, now that they've made players so powerful, and able to lvl incredibly fast!} Have you seen the new gear from the final boss of Abyssea that players are 1-shotting now!? Its insane...
The 6-man PTs are still there, but nearly as rampant as before, especially with the FoV buffs, hardly anyone will PT in an underground area anymore, they want outdoor zones. Plus it always seems the be on the squishest mobs, like the birds in Ronfaure, and more birds in the ToAU areas. Course it was always crabs and goblin prior...lol |

Originally posted by dreamscaper While I may agree with the NGE comment, its hard to get much worse than this game is in its current state. To say they won't revamp it and just add content is foolish. They design style of the game is very niche in its present form and I doubt they could even break even as it sits now. The UI presentation is ok, but they need to do a slight re-customization to it. My thoughts would be to add timers to the action bar... Hitting the same macro over and over and seeing /ma casts "Fire" or target out of range, or spell not recovered is just lame and bad programming. I like turn based Final Fantasy feel with Timer bars, why not incorporate that into the UI, instead you have a half baked WoW action bar and everyone treats it as such. Retainer System, is ok, but it needs to come a long way from its current form, and it would be wise to add a auction house. Hell, FFXI 's auction house would be ok... just cut and paste! lol... kidding Agree on auto-attacks... thats just a bad idea. More Content... Add some epic quests, not quests to level, but actually long story based quests with a nice reward at the end. Something it may take 5 or 10 levels to complete. The rank quests in FFXI are a good example. With all these changes, they would slowly build a player base, but it would mainly taking players from FFXI than anything else. At this point, its pretty much their only option though. They can't do a complete "NGE" revamp, because you alienate any player base you currently have with no way of grabbing new players (except for maybe a PS3 launch). Quite the pickle SE has put themself in, anyhow back to playing DC Online while they fix this game. |

It wouldn't be fair to review a game that's in total ruins. Copy/pasta'ed.... "It would be awesome if you could duel your companion. Then you could solo pvp".--Thanes |

So someone can explain to me why FF14 should get a "special treatment" when others have got reviews even in utterly shit releases?
Oh yeah I remembered...the cash is flowing... "Some of the less objective people tend to be close-minded though and basically disregard any possible shortcomings that gw2 could have." |

I've used the NGE example too. The difference here and SWG is, people liked PreCU. SOE just took it upon themselves to assume a trend. Still, if FF14 was the only FF MMO it could pull it off but most have either returned to FF11, will migrate to it or avoid the franchise all together. 11 is polished, if you want polished thats where to be. I dont want polished, I want rough. I like being a noob in 14. In a month though, I dont feel noob. I can slaughter this, this and that and those are red and one shot me and there isnt jack shit I can do about it. I travelled the whole map, been to places I shouldnt have been, am able to tele to any place I need to be and its not a noob feeling now. Its a 9 to 5 rat race feeling. The little caves are the most fun I have because they have odd spawns in them. Kill a bunch of sewer rats or moles and in time errant souls will start to spawn and a few Chigo's. Being able to evolve spawns like that is the closest thing to progress that I have found in the content. |

They pretty much said that their own opinion of the game is inline with every other review thats been done so far. I think they are on track with the "It's not even worth our time to review it." stand point at the moment. |

While WoW clearly may be the "Better" game, but that don't mean everyone will like it. IDK what it is about WoW but I've never been able to play that game longer than 2 months at a time. I just can't get into it and I've honestly tried like at least 5 times and I mean like honest tries too.. But yet I'm finding my self install the latest and greatest fiasco of the MMORPG genre, I must be crazy or something. |

Originally posted by cukimunga No, just bored. Ever since SWG's fiasco, I've bounced from game to game, unable to really find one that suits my playing style - I've loaded games that are clearly wastes of drive space just to alleviate the crushing boredom. My latest hopes rest on Guild Wars 2 and The Old Republic (although I did just participate in a beta of Rift - that game has some promise, but not enough, IMHO.) |

Originally posted by FormlessOne Maybe it is just that I'm bored of all MMO's except for FFXI or something because XI was the only game I played for long periods of time. To be totally honest I would have been perfectly happy if XIV was an exact copy of XI just a new storyline and new graphics. But its amazing that a company like SE got so screwed up, maybe they are trying to be the first game to rise from the ashes and become a hit.lol |

The game is not in beta and mmorpg.com should review the game. Later on another review can be made. SE doesn't care about some random Western MMO fansite and what it thinks at this point, they sure as hell aren't getting any bribes out of this.

Originally posted by Seffren I thought they still call it beta and doesn't charge you yet? Or has that changed? If not they might as well wait until SE think the game is ready, stupid of them to release it when they did. |

So I guess we can not make fun of bad movies anymore, because the directors cut might not be out yet, and you know the theatrical release does not count. This game was sold in stores I'am pretty sure if you shelled out money for it even if there is no sub atm you should not call it a beta. If you do I would gladly like to offer my own MMO just send me $60 and I will give you the beta version. I know it might just look like a blank note pad document but hey its still in beta. By not reviewing this game with such a large staff of writers, all that the site is doing is confirming that their is a bias toward certain MMO Developers. Now I know that their is no sub but can I download FF14 free somewhere to play it? If so I;ll review it myself. "Onward to adventure". |
