Originally posted by SandboxGamer I remember pre-ordering AoC, I went through GAME, was promised the mammoth/ring and cloak as pre-order goodies. My pre-order never arrived, so I cancelled and went to the high street and bought a hard copy anyway, however this is the thing, it wasn't down to Funcom not supplying the games to my pre-order company, it was down to the blasted store that forget to ensure enough copies had been ordered in the first place. 9 times out of 10 it's not the developer that screws up your order, it's whoever you placed the pre-order with that screwed up, and if it was through SoE they have the digital version anyway so ppl who are saying they didn't get a pre-order that way are either as thick as a short plank of wood or just plain lying for effect. |

Great column Bill, and sure enough they did tone the difficulty down a bit. You went with staff though? I've said it in a few other threads and it still holds true, I am TERRIBLE with the staff. Absolutely terrible. Possibly my worst weapon skill, eventhough it has some amazing combos, especially the hold combo with the multiple stuns, but I'm just not very good with it. Give me a single handed sword anyday for melee.
To the poster who didn't receive their preorder items, did you check under the "market" tab? Thats where I received mine from, it was on the market tab, you just have to click accept. No code needed for me as I preordered through D2D, didn't even realize I was supposed to get anything special.

Originally posted by maskedweasel Staff is easy, once you realize that most of the melee attacks have two ways of doing them. Try going down the melee attack column first, before grabbing anything else. Once you have done that, you can chain four or five combos together by holding the left mouse button until the combo starts, and then release the button; do that five times and you will get a very powerful chain going. Before you get to the bottom of the column, you will get a combo that is tap left mouse button x5; when you get that, hold and release the left button three times and then tap the left button twice. That should take care of most trash mobs you encounter. You can practice these by using Robin in the Legends PvP. "Oh my, how horrible, someone is criticizing a MMO. Oh yeah, that is what a forum is about, looking at both sides. You rather have to be critical of anything in this genre as of late because the track record of these major studios has just been appalling." -Ozmodan |

DC is much better then I expected. It is the BEST Super Hero MMO to date. My brother and I both are addicted. The PVE servers have a flagging system to flag yourself for open world PVP. Plenty of open world PVP action. DC blows Champions and CoH out of the water.

Originally posted by markt50 Chris Cao also highlighted how much fun PVP was. For me, it just isn't. I guess to a large part DCU just IS a PVP game. Which makes or breaks the game for you, IMO. There just isn't enough PVE. A bit as it was in Warhammer. Not saying the game is like WAR, just the analogy of lacking PVE qualities while being too focussed o PVP for those who are just not so into PVP. Like me. EDIT: In beta at least EVERYONE and everyone's mom used to chose Hand Blasters. Go figure. I'd still wait half a year until the game has a real PC UI and more content. And hopefully more visual choices, like some other body form for men besides EPIC muscular, super muscular and child... Holy Trinity who art in our MMORPGs! Blessed be thy speccs, as in WOW so in all MMOs! Our daily loot grant us, and forgive us our noobness, as we forgive the noobs! And do not lead us to disconnects, But deliver us from mediocrity, For thine is the specialization and the teamwork and the endgame, Until cancellation, Amen! |

I'm amazed no one finds it as bland, limited, repetative and boring as I did. Ah well, more power to them - enjoy the game :) |

After reading Bill's opinion of the game I went out an picked up a copy - and can say I am having a blast. This probably isn't the game I will sink most of gaming time into, however I can see myself enjoying it for quite some time. I am glad I took the risk and bought the game. Thanks Bill ! |

So of my friends I game with had picked this up so I thought,"what the hell" and picked it up. Until Rifts comes out I will be playing this. The game is fun, the pvp is really fun as well, and it feels like you're playing a fighting game. Pretty balanced, and if you like pvp it's everywhere on the pvp server. This game won't last longer than a month for me, but being that it took 4 days to go from 1 - 30, I'll be playing this game for the next few weeks smashing fools. |

Not only did I put my foot in my mouth, I kicked myself right in the face . . . After all the negative things I had to day about SOE and DCUO, I did purchase it and try it out, just because I am a DC comics fan and mmorpg fan as well. Initially, it was fun. After a few days, its a whole lot of fun and I am logging in every day. I'm glad I tried it, and I should have remembered what I always say to folks asking for feedback and advice on games they haven't played . . . try it for yourself before making any judgements. |

" DCUO is a great action MMO wrapped in a layer of frustrating controls, topped with a horrible UI and chat system" You have to understand, when you make a game for both console and the PC, both the UI and chat systems will suffer because they are designed for the lowest common denominator, the console controller. You can't have it both ways. Console people don't chat, they usually use voice, hence SOE is not going to spend a lot of time on that feature. I got the game, it is fun to play, but I don't see much depth here, it is more a console type of game where you buy it, play it for a month or two and move on to the next game. Hope SOE is making enough on box sales, because I don't see a long term subscriber base for this game. |

Can't wait to get started on this game. Started DLing it when I left for work. Gotta see the gf and then its DCUO time!
I'm thinking of going healer. I had a CoH healer who wore a white t-shirt with a big red cross on the front. Made it very easy to find groups. People always enjoyed seeing me jump in!
You guys don't care. I'm just giddy. Wanna fight about it? |
