Just based on my love for and faith in Bioware, I would have to say SWTOR will be the only major success of the lot. But only time will tell... |

Nothing currently in production will be a big hit. A few will be moderately successful and most will tank. "Any sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice." ~Greys Law |

Yeah I don't think your definition of a big hit is the same as my definition of one. But go on, attach a number to your big hit qualification and I'll show you how wrong you are...

SWTOR should hit the 3mil mark, if they don't fail miserably. If they fail miserably they will still sell over a mil or two boxes. But, when you sink 150mil into a game, that really doesn't mean much. GW2 will hit the 2mil mark at least, if they deliver what they are promising. Maybe alot more if it's as good as it sounds combined with B2P. DCUO will be around, but I doubt it gets over 1mil. Maybe 1-2mil boxes sold within the first year, which is pretty successful, but I doubt they will retain much more than 500k. Which is technically, still a major hit and extremely profitable. Too bad the SWG guys didn't care about that. |

Originally posted by FarReach I highly suspect that GW2 IS going to be the next big hit, even if there are other big hits that come out before it. However, there is a problem with the question of asking whats going to be the next popular game, and that is that popularity doesn't indicate quality (or rather quality doesn't seem to be required eg. WoW) my reason for saying that GW2 will be the next big hit is because, as one person answering a question about predictions, I can say whatever the hell I want, give whatever reason I want, and, because what I say doesn't have to have anything to do with reality, I can do some shameless hyping of my most anticipated game. (reason given for GW2 being the next big hit: because I said so) now, as to the potential success of other games like rift, SW:TOR, TERA, or DCUO, I don't think that any of them have the potential to be "the next big hit". If any of these games (including GW2) are declared to be the next big hit, it is because previous years have release nothing but steaming piles of ****. I don't think that anything but WoW, GW1, LotRO, and EVE could be considered big hits anyways, so everything else fell short of some kind of expectation set by fans who have the collective attention span of a 6 year old with a sugar high and was left to rot in the land of mediocracy and not quite green grass. The fact that the question of what the next big hit proves this last point to be true. I used to TL;DR, but then I took a bullet point to the footnote. |

Ya a lot of folks forget how huge the first Guild Wars was. Even now as simplistic as the game is, it has a very healthy population. With all thats planned to be introduced in Guild Wars 2, expect it to be the biggest release of the past 5 years and be the best released MMO of 2011 by far. ![]() |

Guild Wars 2 will be a hit for sure. I mean its a buy to play game with no sub so everybody will probaly be playing that game. As for games like Star Wars, Tera and Rift only time will tell. AMD FX-4100 Zambezi (OC at 4.2GHZ ATM) |

Guild Wars 2 The original game still has something like three million fans and if they second game improves on the IP then those fans will just eat it up. Having said that, I don't think we'll ever see anything as big as WoW for a long time. In fact, I don't think that we'll se anthing as big as WoW ever again. WoW will begin bleeding subscribers, eventually, but I don't think that any other single MMO will acheive the same numbers that WoW has. World of Warcraft was a freak storm in the market and that kind of lightning just doesn't strike twice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2if5GYXOGyo |

I bet no one is going to say Guild Wars 2. Man, that game looks like shit!!
Seriously, the only MMO I'm really looking foward to is World of Darkness online. Mostly because I want to see what CCP can do with a land based game. And I'm hoping it's more mature than this kiddy crap everywhere now a days. Corporation, n: An ingenious device for obtaining individual profit without individual responsibility. - Ambrose Bierce |

If I was going to choose one, I would have to say GW2... but I'm kind of skeptical of all MMOs right now. Why can't I stop wanting to play them? Damnit! Someone needs to release something good one of these days. |

Why would it matter which game that is the next big hit? May it be GW2 or SWTOR or just nothing at all apart from WoW. As long as you find the game that suit you and that you have fun with and enjoy yourself with, then that's all that matters. I know that I will have a great time in both GW2 and SWTOR and therefore they'll be big hits for me. |

Guild Wars 2 will have 5+ million boxes sold at the very least, and probably closer to 7-10+ milliion. P2P will be Bioware's Star Wars. |

The next big hit will be the next game in concept phase. Once it hits beta, people will start dissecting it and it'll instantly become the next big failure. At least, that's how the story unfolds on these forums. |

Originally posted by FarReach GW1 sold over 6 million+ units including expacs and it was not what many would call an mmo. This time round i would expect more. Don't forget that GW has it's biggest following in Europe that's why they chose to reveal at Gamescom Germany, they know it was European who supported GW the most, the devs even say that. This time round they have piped the interest of NA so expect massive sales. SWTOR will be the other big hiter. I had my doubts about it but i really think it will be more of a classic MMO than people are expecting. I will be playing GW2 or SWTOR. All these people thinking they can play both because gw2 is BTP and a little side game our wrong. GW2 will be a massive game and you will need to play full time if you want to keep up,it's as simple as that imo. |

It will no doubt be Guild Wars 2 and/or Star Wars: The Old Republic. Really, there shouldn't be only one, but it seems the majority of MMO developers have no idea how to make a proper game anymore, so we'll see. I definitely plan on playing both, though. |
