I've been playing D&D for about 7 years, since version 3.0 came around. I love it and will never grow out of it. I have played a character for 5 years and typed a journal that's 210 pages long, single-spaced. But when D&D 4.0 came out, I was discouraged. I tried the system and didn't like it. I think 3.5 was fantastic and simply needed a few adjustments. So, I spent over 9 months creating my own version of D&D based on 3.5. It's available for free at my website. I hope you ended up with a good version. The D&D rules, up to 4.0, were always a murky and haphazard blob, concocted out of whatever would stick on the wall, an awkward collection of exemptions and poorly constructed exceptions. IMO 2.0 probably had the most potential. I gave up on the whole D&D ruleset a long time ago. If you are waiting for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one. |
