Even the easiest of games like noughts and crosses use strategy.

honestly this is a no brainer as the question itself is designed to give only one result.. its a zero point question. Tip for the future. if your going to form a poll, at least have a point to it, and make the choices at least half way comprehensive as the results of this one will be extremely misleading.

I like challenging games, but I don't like the "new" community that plays them.

People want to zerg to endgame with their zerguilds in as little time as possible. Just give them a /win all button.

Collector's editions are scams.

Define "challenging".

Sorry but this poll is pointless unless you can define what you mean by 'challenge'.

Who could have thought that WOW could bring super power like USA to its knees?

Im picking on WoW btw because its the beast that made all of this possible

All games require some type of strategy. Some are more straightforward and linear than others.

I prefer twitch factor over strategy. Strategy usually boils down to learning some lame script that after learning it become super boring.

Challenge shouldn't need to be defined by anyone else except the individual it pertains to. So the poll is not moot. What is moot is people trying to apply their degree of challenge to others. The degree of challenge will vary from person to person, but as it is, it appears that a majority of gamers enjoy a challenge - whatever that level may be to them specifically.

For myself, I'd have to say I enjoy a challenge overall. But there are days where I feel like not being challenged at all. Days when I come home tired and would just like some easy, non-challenging, stress-free relaxation in a game. I'm about an 85/15.

Honestly if we are talking about MMOs there is only one what type of gamer question. As far as anything else goes few will care.

You Hardcore or Casual?

Wrong. I like "hardcore" games, but I play them casually. There are many like me. We like games that don't treat us like we're toddlers, and we like games that are immersive/innovative (usually called "hardcore" titles for whatever reason), yet I don't invest massive amounts of time into them.

On one hand, you have single player style games like WoW, with absolutely no challenge or learning curve, and no difficulty to the quests. On the other, you have the original good games like DAoC that had fewer, more interesting quests.

By today's standards, anything that isn't WoW styled. WoW style games are, LotRO, AoC, WAR, Aion, ect ect. Super easy quest based leveling, GPS mini maps, no learning curve, glowing objects and linear objectives to guide the player.

I like games that are challenging.  Lately though the definition of challenging has changed.  I don't consider memorizing a highly scripted fight to be one bit challenging.  I define challenging as there being choices to be made, pro's and con's to which way you choose regardless, and a penalty for death.  Other things go into making something challenging, but those are the 3 big ones.

It's sad that the standards for "challenge" have changed so much. People think WoW raiding is hard when it's just what you said, memorizing a script, and you download mod tools to help doing that! There's no penalty for failure either. WoW is such a hardcore raiding guy, yeah right.

A generic question requires a generic answer. I like to use strategy except when I don't.

You know, people say wow isn't hardcore but......imho once you hit the the level cap it's a hardcore players dream. For me I can't play long these days as my life is very busy now with responsibilitys and all (also, I like to play other types of games not just mmorpg's). Games like lotro and DC universe are just right for me.

As for difficulty, I don't mind a challange at all but I have no interest in frustration either (afterall, it's very important I'm having fun in the little time I have to play nowadays). Imho, it's all about balance regarding the difficult level of a game. You need to feel like you have achieved but at the same time frustration leads to stress and games have never been and should never be about stress.

Yeah, kinda a hard poll to answer. To some, PvE is challenging, to others, PvP is. "Strategy" usually boils down to learning how NPCs react and what to do in PvE and in PvP it's having least amount of lag, best gear and usually more people.

How much fun I'm having is my ultimate distinction. Games that are challenging (but beatable) in both PvE and PvP tend to be my favorites.
