Aion is nominated for 7 prizes at MMOsite Reader's Choice Awards 2010. However, the result of the current phase shows total failure of Aion. The votes Aion got is laughably few. |

MMOSite is a horrid horrid site. F2P games direct their players there. Good games generally don't. So any results are pretty useless. |

Well WHO would hide behind a newly created alt, opening up an thread out of nowhere about Aions once again supposed "failure" because of ranking low in a some another popularity vote, yet coming close behind the supposed most played MMORPG on earth idling on the least places either, which isnt mentioned because it would make the point of this thread moot? Nielsen game ratings - Jan 2012 Top-Games: World of Warcraft played 2x more than LOL; WoW played 6 times more than Aion |

I don't know if it is a failure or not but I do know that I am glad that I only paid $12 for it.
Aion seems to be an old school MMO with a slow leveling rate mostly dependant upon grinding away at mobs and has a high dependency on items. Most "western MMOs" (i.e. massively successful MMOs) have shunned these things in favor of a faster-paced less gear-dependant design.
Then again the whole "skill matters" idea is a bit too new to blame Aion devs for not catching on to and the whole gear trumps skill approach is pretty much standard fair for a Korean game. Though NCSoft could have just looked at the success of Guild Wars to see this shift in game approach. Its hard to do well in today's MMO filled environment if you don't pay attention to the trends, let alone without having a really strong first year showing.
The armor is really cool and the character customization is amazing. Flight is pretty fun too (or could be if were less restrained). In the end, I don't know if it is a failure. I do know that it certainly wasn't the success that NCSoft hoped it would be and I know that I'm losing interest in it surprisingly quickly. |

Originally posted by dreamscaper Have to agree with this. MMOSite goes to the point of IMO making MMORPG.com's F2P column look impartial. Anyway it is #2 on the Best of P2P list losing only to WoW, which had me laugh a bit considering Ragnarok Online is still listed as P2P, TCoS and Hellgate still exist (or have been re-released already) and that does server to prove the favoritism towards F2P. |

Everyone agrees the game was bad.
The true question is, which game is worse...This or the new FF? |

Seems like only yesterday this site was full of people saying Aion is the greatest game ever. |

I'm going to give blade and soul a shot. If that ends up being a stinker too, then I'm officially done with south east asian MMOs. Trundle Champion Spotlight:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImDVrSscUqA |

Originally posted by Sovrath I liked the game too. I agreed with my wife to come back when they fixed two things. The 2 gig memory break limit (fixed) and melee flight (introducing ground abyss is not fixing it). Once they fix flight melee I'll be resubbing. |

Originally posted by Swanea Yes, I'm sure the 4million+ people playing Aion think it's simply terribad and should be taken down immediately...
I realize the game isn't for everyone, but trying to make the game look like a failure simply because you don't like it only makes you look silly. <3 |

Aion is definitely not a failure globally. In the West? Maybe. It depends who you talk to and their expectations. |

Is Aion a failure ? NO but like all the other games on the market, it's not for everyone. Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries... |
