MMORPG.com and Trion Worlds have partnered to bring you news and information about four of the classes players will be able to choose from when Rift: Planes of Telara goes live. The first in our series is the support specialist, the Archon. We have screens, basic class information and a lore story to breathe life into the Archon.

Archons are support specialists who steal their opponents’ strength and convert that raw energy into beneficial magic. These mages bolster their allies and unleash potent kinetic blasts, quickly turning the tide of battle.

CLASSES
In the Ascended class system, Soul Attunement is the player’s ability to commune with the souls of Telara’s honored dead and gain their powers and abilities. Each Calling has a unique selection of souls that can be embraced by the player, providing nearly endless opportunity to discover the path that’s right for them!

[D] Defiant - This class is selectable at character creation for the Defiant. Guardians can play this class later in the game.
[G] Guardian - This class is selectable at character creation for the Guardians. Defiant can play this class later in the game.
[H] Heroic Class - This is a class that can not be selected at character creation and must be earned through other means.

Nope, its a sapper :)

But Chloromancer is supposed to be the healer.

And Dominator the CC, Elementalist the pet class, Necromancer a hybrid pet class, Pyromancer a DPS, Storm Caller a hybrid DPS, Warlock a DoT.

That's very generally speaking from my time played at Gamer Day, but it does give a good feeling of how the classes will be. With the pets, and possibly souls like Warlock, Mages *can* tank if needed, or off-tank.

And Rogues can do all three of the trinity (plus support, maybe). Clerics are the most versitile overall imo (even had a bit of concern of them being overall a little too powerful), and Warriors can heal in a pinch, and do good DPS. 

You can be what you want, but there are several restrictions in place so its more of a 'you can be anything' rather than 'you can be everything'.

hmm, not surpriseing once again the background hero is a girl.  i could care less, just an observerance like they have done with just about every other class

Nice and I love the lore behind it.

They have all of the classes done and listed on some wiki pages, but the names / final abilities / trees are a WIP so they are not "officially" announced. But the overall look, mechanic, strengths and weaknesses have been established. Check telerapedia.com for more info

1)That is a Bahmi, one of the three Defiant races. They are descendants of beings who arrived from the Plane of Air and decided to stay, in fact coming to decide to forgo their ability to return in order to do some good deed or whatever (they are human-planar hybrids actually).

2)Because Trion sends the info to press beforehand, like most games do. This info..like I've said before, will show up on the main site within a week.

love reading about the new classes in this game... and every one has a well written story with it. Seriously can't wait for this game
