I have no VIP key and would love one, I'm just not arrogant enough to think that just because I visit this site i'm more deserving than others, after all I haven't really given more to the site than say someone who just comes and reads the news, the only difference is I have made a few posts, so what.

I don't think I am owed anything, but I DO think giving away beta keys and then only have a CHANCE for beta is misleading.

Don't hand away keys if you don't have place for someone. It's like selling 1000 theatre tickets for a theatre which has 500 places. It's just not right. And on top all too often we Europeans are either shut out entirely from betas or get a chance 2 days before launch or such.

From what I've seen on the official forums and here...I don't think the community for this game is going to be that good.

It's nothing like that. It's like if someone came up to you can said "here's a FREE raffle ticket and the prize is $50,000"

Now with the logic of 90% of people bitching here their response to this guy would be:

"OMG WTF A FREE RAFFLE TICKET TO WIN $50,000! That's not good enough, I deserve to just have the $50,000, THIS IS REALLY UNFAIR QQ"

Now obviously as that guy gave you that raffle ticket for free and was at no expense to you to obtain, that response would appear to be very arrogant, ungrateful and selfish just as a lot of you are being towards TRION and mmorpg.com

You attempted to obtain a key at no expense to you, therefore anything you get from that key IS A BONUS and if you don't gain anything, well you LOST NOTHING so you HAVE NOTHING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT.

A ticket is a ticket, no matter if you get it for free. If you have 500 seats you give 500 tickets, not 1000. Period. Everything else is a scam.

A ticket is a ticket, no matter if you get it for free. If you have 500 seats you give 500 tickets, not 1000. Period. Everything else is a scam.

 I do agree with a certain extent to the OP.  I am an American but am currently living in Britain for a year.  I would like to have access to these events as well.  However, for my timestamp I have 1:15AM GMT for the event not 2AM. A bit nit-picky but there it is.  I am based in the UK so I know that this is the accurate time for GMT.

Agreed but you can't give away them based on numbers of post.

But to have a rule for 24 hours membership to be able to enter would make a lot of sense, it would turn away those guys that just make an account to get the key and never plan to visit the site again.

Same goes for the sweepstake contests.

I've been saying this for years, only I think it should be even harsher.  If you haven't registered, logged into, or visited the website within 30 days prior to the start of a contest you shouldn't be eligable. The MMORPG.com contests pretty much screw out long time community members.

The seem designed to try and bring in more visitors rather than reward long time members.  That's great, except it doens't work.  Someone comes here, registers for the givewaway, wins, then isn't seen again until there's another contest.

And yes I'm a little bitter.  I've participated in every contest we've had here for the last 6 years and only ever won 1 crappy prize.

Giveaways are first come, first serve. However, contests (random drawings) do reward users who actively visit the site, as you are given extra entries into the drawing for logging in throughout the duration of a contest period.

This give-away screws over everyone that isn't a bot trying to get keys to sell, not just non USA users. Look at the "winners" from today, 75 percent of the users were created on 11/23/2010. Yea that's today.
