It looks all nice, but the lack of detailled body customzation is a major letdown for me. Why must an adult male be all the same muscular guy? Is there no in between in comics? I did not have to be as vast as CoX or CO, but having those to as references in mind - as surely many potential gamers will - it looks like a letdown and an odd decision. Even if limited, this looks a bit too rigid.

From these comments, I can tell this game is going to bring in a lot of comic book nerds that know nothing about videogames. |

Originally posted by unbound55 Good points, equally with power choices I'd rather have a small number that genuinely play differently than trillions that all feel exactly the same. 3 body sizes is a bit limiting imo, muscualture options need to be seperated as well not every big guy/gal wants to be chiselled and not every small one wants to be ...err...unchiselled ^^ So hopefully multiple 'skins' are going to be available. As for bringing in people new to mmo's if it does that it will be all to the good, the incest in mmos has been bad for creativity imo. |

I think there is a body size restriction for a few reasons.
1) The game is more hack and slash instead of tab target and click buttons all day. I think there are certain restrictions in line with that. Even though the slim option is shorter and smaller, and more "robin-like" it isn't knee cap sized, and paper thing, so you can see them easily and attack them as well.
2) I think another reason they're doing this is to manage animations better. With sizing the way CoX did it, you would ALWAYS have clipping problems with certain costume selections when your body was either too big or too small. I think to reduce that and stylize at the same time, I really don't see that as that big of a problem.
3) I think overall they are going for a real simplistic design selection process. Something that can be done quickly and easily utilizing a controller and a mouse. I think nitpicking lots of different body part sizes and things of that nature could get pretty intensive, and although some players love doing it, scrolling through tons of menus on a controller would get really disheartening.
Thats how I see it at least.

Originally posted by maskedweasel Thx. :) Yeah no biggie, just a bit "meh", when I am so used to it from Superhero MMOs. An odd choice. I would at least have loved some basic sliders. Musle size or such. I don't need nose or ear size. But once you had some luxurity of 100 sliders, it feels odd to lose that in the next "big thing". I know I spent so much time in CoX and CO because I loved the 1000s of combinations and playing around with the character design was at least for me most of the fun of it! I guess in my time in CO I created about 80 or 100 chars, and prolly about 500 different costumes. I just loved that part, and I used to be anal about stuff like the exact nose bend or eye size and whatnot. XD

Originally posted by adam_nox I hope the power selection is brilliant, because I want tto play this game. They do have some interesting ideas, but I don't know where you get that mixing powers are a bad idea. You can create the exact kind of character you want, and even if some mixtures are not as good as others, you can still be successful in PvE. I'd rather have the freedom to make the character I want, but if the content and gameplay is high quality than it won't matter much. |

the character creator is no where as robust as CO is you cna tell jsut by the videos, and powers are fairly locked down, you choose a power school and your locked into it like a theme and it works like wow talents used to. work your way down the ladder. the no GL's was confirmed in a 10ton or massively interview, mainly becauwse meta/gadget/magic power sets could not acount for the fact that a "RING" finds you. |
