Hi all, hope you're well!!! As I am sure you are all aware there is much debate on what will be the next game in SOE arsenal to go F2P. If they decide it's going to be SWG how many of you would go back and give it another go??? As a vet from the glory days of pre-CU I certainly will be as I am hoping the F2P will repopulate the servers a bit. |

I'm also a Pre-CU vet and yes I would too, I doubt it would ever be my main MMO again, it would probably be installed for those times when I just fancy something different, although to be honest I'm not subscribed to any MMO's at the minute so who knows.

I think it's safe to say, no. That ship sailed a long time ago. SOE has many, many flavors of EQ... but they refused the SWG fanbase a classic server. A Pre-CU/NGE server is what was wanted, and no matter what, that wasn't going to happen. As much as I miss my Jedi, SOE had their chance. Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware "Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product." |

i never left but if they do what turbine did with LotRo then it'll make me leave i reccon. but if the game stays as is and doesn't get crappy like other FTPs then i'll stick around. |

id go back and find that my house cant be packed up because i need to purchase the house packer item for 20 bucks on store. Then id try to wear my armor and weapons but i cant because im F2P so ill need the armor and gun permanent equipment buff that lasts for 30 days. only 10 bucks then i might want to go exploring to collect more badges but i cant because badges only come if you have the explorers goggles and thats 10 bucks. Then maybe if i want to harvest some animal skins ill go on a huge animal killing spree only to find out i dont have the intergalactic raincor hide skin knife for 30 bucks on market. no thanks. For me personally the decision on whether I would go back to SWG would have nothing to do with whether I had to pay for it of not. I know I am lucky enough to be able to afford a couple of parallel subscriptions but my decision would be on the features that this game has above the other choices. There are some great F2P games on the market and with recent additions of high budget games such as LOTRO, EQ2 and D&D, the choice has never been better for F2P players. However SWG, for me, just looks far too dated now and that ship has just sailed. If it had a significant graphics revamp, (such as Eve has done in the past), it would be more appealing but I think its just too hard for an "old" game to reinsert itself in the market. I wish the current players all the best thouh as I had a great time ehen I played it and with a great community. To err is human....to play is divine |

The more you hype an upcoming game in your mind, the more it will fail to meet your expectations. |

Nope. The game is nowhere near what it was in it's 'glory days'. It's basically been butchered into a really bad WoW clone using a star wars theme. 32 professions into 9... no thanks. |

Probably not. But I WOULD pay $30 a month sub if they redid the game with AoC's graphics engine and spent a year or so fixing & adding all the mechanics that were initially supposed to be in-game then relaunched with the Pre-NGE ruleset + JTL. But yeah, we all know that ship's sailed. "I’d rather work on something with great potential than on fulfilling a promise of mediocrity." |

And to answer the question...yes. |

God no, the issue isn't the sub it's the game itself. Future: GW2/DF Relaunch/WoD |

I would say why not.
sure it aint the old pre-nge/cu gameplay but its still the same setting , and lets not forget taht swg does have some of the best game mechanics in MMO world.
f2p means I can come and go whenever I like. no longer have to pay and feel used . ueh..sounds wierd.. |

Simply put, I don't need a game to go F2P to return, I either return or I don't. I might even hesitate returning to a P2P that goes F2P to be honost. I did love SWG prior to the NGE (in a gamers way) but left some weeks into the NGE, I did return for about 8 months in 2007 but since then never felt the urge to return and if it may turn F2P it doesn't change anything to me. ------------------------------------------------------------ |

I tired the game when steam had this deal not so long ago.Wether the expansions ruined the game for most or not back then ,right now in this day and age Clunky and Dinly are the only words that come to mind after trying it out for a week. The age of this game shows and im not just talking about the graphics. |

Would I play SWG as a F2P? No.
Would I re-subscribe to SWG and pay the monthly fee? Yes,,, if they rolled it back to pre CU/NGE, and if they also went back to pre holo grinding, and 3 strikes and dead for force sensitive characters. You remember,,, the way it started out when everyone really loved the game.
I think SOE could fill a whole bunch of servers if they could get their collective heads out of their behinds, admit they made a huge mistake and gave us the game we all originally bought. |
