I am referring to the problem where if you logged in last night and got any TP from deeds, well, it's mostly gone today. They'll fix it tomorrow and get around to restoring points to people someday...maybe Meanwhile, they're having a big sales on Turbine points. 6900 for only $49.99! That's 1900 extra. And all those loyalty points that they said they've give out, you know, for sticking with the game the last 3 months. Well, they'll get around to giving those out next week. Meanwhile, did they mention they are having a big sale on Turbine Points? Only $49.99 for 6900!
If this were the old Turbine, I'd just say it's their usual mild incompetence. But the new, monetization first Turbine, well, I have to wonder. They no doubt made some serious cash from these glitches, especially since this sale is only for those affected, really (I would not be shocked to see this extended for the first week of launch, actually). I mean, all the people who bought into the F2P change, how it would be free goodies for them. Log in...no points. But the goodies are there. But no points. But the goodies. They're free. But wait, look at that sale. 6900 points. That's like a bargain. OMG, better buy them now. I'm sure that scenario played out in thousands of households. http://my.lotro.com/character/landroval/galadthryth/ |

This is exactly the kind of thing I told everybody would be coming with these changes. But nooooooo, I dont know what im talking about. ~laughs~ Now you can get a good look at where their priorities lie. Quick buck from the free players and nooblets, and to hell with the people who have supported them for years. Thats how pretty much all F2P games run, and LOTRO is now no exception. Get used to it. |

I had all my points last night, 4500 of them. When I logged in deeds started ticking off, more points were added ... So no problem here. And you've seen the store, are people really that desperate to buy a few cloaks, dresses, and heal pots that they can't wait a couple days? I mean, I could understand if there was something on there actually worth a squirt of piss (Maybe the stat tomes ... maybe). |

Oh wow! I just hopped over to their forums and almost every post is about a new glitch, people angry about this or that, missing TP... This is rich. I was in the beta, I saw how terribly glitchy it was, I made a few posts about how the game wouldnt be ready for this rush out the door thing, but I was shushed by the idiot F2P fanboys. People arent getting their paid-for points, things bought fromt he store arent appearing, oh man, what a circus! Thats what happens when your studio gets bought by a soulless corporation who doesnt care about getting things right and will push things out as quick as they can and tell the devs to fix it as they go. Pathetic. |

I think they are honestly having issues. If it was just the late release of VIP TPs i would wonder myself, but vanishing TPs that you already got? Thats bad, it erodes the players trust in the system and will reduce the number of people willing to buy TPs, cause you know, they could vanish.
And its not just them, Codemasters isnt even trying to launch on time, allegedly they also have trouble with the account/free-to-play system. |

Trancejeremy has no idea what he has uncovered! Not only is Turbine doing this purposefully, there is more. Remember when your dog Scruffy got hit by a car when you were 11. Know who was behind the wheel? Turbine. And that time in junior high when the girl you had a crush on found out that you played "Dungeons and Dragons" and she laughed at you and then never spoke to you again? Know who told her? Turbine. And the time in High School when you drove up to school to show your girlfriend your first car and you found her sitting on the bumper of a Corvette holding hands with some huge football player? He works for Turbine now. He's really important and well-liked and famous. He also recently banned you from the forums. Oh, and he took her to the prom that year, too. *shrug* I guess when some people are bored, they feel that they have to create drama. How's that working out for you? Yeah. Good luck
"Look. I'd tell you all to get a life, but I am sincerely afraid of what you would do with it." "There goes the neighhboorhood! Hey! All you darn kids! Go on! Get offa my game! |

Big oil, big insurance, Wall Street ain't got nothing on those evil Turbine Devs. They were probably behind 911 and on the grassy knoll also. They are out to get your penny a point TP's |

Originally posted by Rebn77 I agree those Stat tomes are nice, I might buy some wardrobe space also but only if I fill up the standard 20 spots which I have not done yet. So far I bought one vault chest to test the store and one tome just cause I could. I am holding off on the tomes because all my important stats on my main is darn near max already and the quest gear in Book III is pretty awesome so far. |

Exactly, besides if you think you have it bad with turbine rejoice, you could be a codemasters customer. They just got told that there will be no f2p release on 10th, and when players asked when the new releasedate was they got told "*shrugs*". And yes thats the tldr; version. |

Sounds like they are just having a really bad launch rather then any sort of conspiracy. I'd chalk it up to bad project management rather then anything else. Kind of a surprise given how solid the origional launch of SOA was. Probably a legitimate knock against "new" Turbine would be to say that their quality of planning and testing isn't anywhere near upto the standards it used to be. Note that these kind of problems aren't all that unusual for the INDUSTRY but they are pretty unusual for Turbines LOTRO Team....which has had a history of very smooth releases and updates until now. |

I'd take no patch at all over what we just got any day. And Im not the only one. For once it sounds like Codemasters is actually being responsible. |

Originally posted by GrumpyMel2 Thats the point. Since they've been bought out by Warner Brothers the only thing that matters is fast monetization and pushing it out the door as quickly as possible. That's basic corporate dogma not some kind of conspircy. The idiot on the last page who posted 10 paragraphs of hyperbole doesn't get the point: This isnt a conspiracy, it's the way corporate America works. They want to make money NOW, so push things out before they';re ready and if there's problems you can fix it on the fly. Im 100% sure that Turbine didn't want this to go live yet. It's simply not ready. But they answer to shareholders now and in the corporate world making a quick buck on a disposable product is better than making alot of money over time by crafting a bug-free game with happy customers. This isnt a conspiracy, it's simple reality. |

Originally posted by Regomar Lets not make a Virtue out of failing your own deadlines ok? And yes, i played on brandywine already and im perfectly fine with the version they got. The issues are isolated and totally fricking normal for any big gamepatch and Turbine is working on fixing them, even retroavtively. So they are merely an annoyance.
Besides many of the trouble Turbine seems to have seem to revolve around their account system and applying TPs. Since CM has a completely different system the time Turbine spends on these problems will do exactly nothing for CM. |

Its bassicly a relaunch of the game, its just a glitch. Many many new systems just came online. |

Originally posted by Regomar Welcome to software developement. Software doesnt get released when its bugfree, it gets release when its mostly free of critical bugs. Making bugfree software is not finacially viable, crazy as that sounds. Besides its a difference wether you could make the deadline and then think it would be a better idea to postpone it due to bugs, or wether you fail to meet the deadline, like at all.
Codemasters didnt decide to hold back the patch, they didnt even try to pretend it was due to the games state. They flatout told us that they cant get the Store implemented into their account system and had no clue at all how long it might take them to fix it. Besides whats buggy about the patch right now? The TP issue got addressed, its the retroactive fixing thats going to take time, so what is CM waiting for? Are they waiting for the game to be bugfree? Like around christmas next year? |

Originally posted by trancejeremy I'm picking on this part because you seem informed enough. So, why the rhetoric? |
